In the wider context of our club’s history, the score line of yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Doncaster doesn’t matter. But the fact that the game took place at all was massive. Back in January (just nine short months ago) I sat at the Dons Trust EGM and wondered if we’d even get another home game. Once again funding was the issue, yet somehow we…[Read more]

Seeing the words “Club Statement” on the OS is enough to send most fans fearing the worst. To find out it was a player who’d been charged with a sexual offence two years ago was bad enough, but the fact that the club only found out about it two days ago raises many questions.
Paul Kamalbayi has been acquitted of the offence, but serious…[Read more]

Will the real AFCW please stand up! Our away form seems capable to making us look like a good team, whilst our “home” form is as shakey as Mr Stevens himself. Not only do we seem capable (just) of holding onto a lead away from home, whilst we seem equally capable of shooting ourselves in both feet at home whilst blindfolded. Let’s hope this “home”…[Read more]

The negativity directed towards the iFollow platform proved unfounded as I sat down to watch a Dons game on it for the first time. Registering was effortless (if a little user unfriendly) and the coverage was really fairly good. The on screen adverts for both clubs sponsors were a bit annoying, but you really couldn’t complain.
As for the game,…[Read more]

It now looks like any WDSA members have extra time to save up for that first visit to Plough Lane. Earlier today it was announced that gatherings of more than six people will be banned throughout England as of Monday. In one fell swoop, any chance of anyone seeing a live football game anytime soon looks very likely. Bugger!

…and in other transfer news, a certain Lyle Taylor has signed for newly relegated Millwall for a reported £80k a week and on a four year contract.
How can we compete with deals like that?

So the pre season excitement goes up another notch with the release of details about next season’s season tickets. Some big decisions to be made soon, and do I want a debenture? We’ll have to await on details on those, but the fact we’re having to think about these questions shows how far this club has come.
Decision one is whether I sit or…[Read more]

The latest missive from the EFL concludes with…
“The EFL Board has always acknowledged that a single solution to satisfy all Clubs would always be hard to find, but we are at the point now where strong, definitive action is needed for the good of the League and its members.”
That’s not a phrase I’d use!

The only thing I want to see happen with this season, is for Liverpool NOT to be awarded the Premier League title 🙂

There are no handshakes allowed, but we still have an utterly pointless sponsors photo opportunity as the teams walk past each other. I loved Ramsdale’s cheeky grin and nod last weekend. What follows is 22 players getting up close and personal in a fashion that would give our government’s Chief Medical Office a heart attack.
Elsewhere my firm has…[Read more]

Peterborough was one of those games. They had LOADS of possession but failed to do much with it. Restricted to long range pot shots, their first real chance came after an hour had elapsed. By comparison we had a few gilt edged chances that their keeper did well to keep out.
It was good to see Mr Toney get his comeuppance. Having spent most of the…[Read more]

Wishing all Wombles down under, up and over, or just in SW19 a peaceful and happy Christmas. Here’s to a fundraising effort to end all fundraising efforts in 2020.
…and hoping any Wombles in the Sydney area aren’t too badly affected by the 40 degree temperatures and bush fires. Climate change? What climate change?

From the latest update on the Seedrs campaign…
“Everybody is committed to building the stadium as described during our crowdfunding campaign, with an initial 9,000 capacity, a showpiece fans’ zone and bar, plus vital income-generating facilities such as executive boxes, along with banqueting and conference suites. In fact, recent photographs o…[Read more]

Maybe I should miss a few more games. I was going to go. My wife even dropped me by the bus stop on her way out. It was then that I realised I’d left my oyster card at home. I could easily have walked back and got it and still made it to KM in plenty of time, but I just thought “sod it” and went home. Such is the air of depression I feel around…[Read more]

Something has been bothering me since Monday, but it is only now that I’ve had the time to think about what it is. The DTB has approached AT LEAST three investors. It would be churlish to think that the first three that were approached all said “Yes”. If that is the case, who else was approached, what reasoning was used to do so, and why did they say “No”?

It was stated by the DTB on Monday that the three investors are well aware that they won’t see a return on their investment. Finding one multi-millionaire in Wimbledon willing to throw £2.5m down the drain seems implausible, but to find three?
I wouldn’t be surprised if any conversation with investors went along the lines of…

There were three questions at the back of my mind as I attended last nights Dons Trust SGM:
• Just how had things escalated so quickly to the current situation?
• Why is there such a disconnect between the fans and the Dons Trust Board?
• What type of club do we want to be going forward? The overwhelming feeling of those in the room last night…[Read more]

On the face of it, a point away from home is a good result, especially when you look at our away form. But the manner by which we conceded both Bolton’s equalisers is a body blow that is tough to take. Thankfully there was no real damage done, as other teams failed to capitalise.
Now we can forget about on the field matters as Monday’s SGM puts…[Read more]

Please don’t “beg” to differ Singapore 🙂
Having looked at the highlights I’m willing to accept I was being harsh on Kwesi. From where I stood it certainly looked like he hadn’t headed it cleanly, but I accept he did. It is just a shame his ability to gel with the fans is lacking.
His celebration was a rather OTT though, and just the sort of…[Read more]
