I just don’t get why, when our Under 18 squad (to say nothing of our development squad), are all getting rave reviews and yet not so much as a look-in to the first eleven… that NA has decided to go off to the transfer market, spending money I am not really convinced we need to spend. After all, Wayne Rooney got his break at sixteen, why don’t some of ours?
Perhaps, in my traditional sideways slant; and fuelled by the various interests we have received for our youngsters, I wonder if our Academy system really exists purely as a fund to feed NA’s obsession to take on Cardiff cast-offs. But then that’s the sort of cynicism you’d expect from me, nes pas?

Some Tubbs news from our Pompey snout – He’s fit and not being picked. We are on the verge of extending the loan of, or signing Caolan Lavery. Tubbs knows he’s out because of that. The strongest of rumours is Bristol Rovers.. also heard Crawley but would be surprised at that personally. Wimbledon is definitely a preference for him on distance grounds but I believe Eastleigh is a possibility if they offer the right deal – which will undoubtedly be his last decent one. There’ll undoubtedly be more rumours soon but in our minds he’s gone.

Is this forum run much like WUP now? I.e no threads, just posts on posts? Never minded that format but this would need to be new posts at top with option of posting at the top too?

Just can’t understand why we would be interested in Tubbs, unless there is a bid on the table for Lyle Taylor.

We have 4 decent strikers and out of those Tubbs would only be a replacement for Taylor or Azeez. He doesn’t offer the physicality of Bayo or Elliott (or Azeez for that matter). He does offer goals, of course, but to play around him we would need to change our style and I really don’t think we would want to do that half way through the season.

In my view we should stick with the strikers we have and perhaps bolster midfield to help them out.
