As I write this, it’s 8am in South Carolina, US of A; a country that has finally woken up after six weeks of denial. Yet, I shall go to work today in the knowledge that many customers will decide it’s their ‘constitutional right’ to spread coronavirus to everyone, whether they want it or not. Oh well, I made my bed as they say.
    On the bright side,…[Read more]

    Well said Windlesham.
From your words it is my confident belief that these three ‘investors’ are indeed asset strippers who have identified the club as a soft target.
If we are to prevent them taking over the club the first thing we have to do is REMOVE the current DTB. This, simply because they may well have been ‘persuaded’ to support whatever…[Read more]

Having spent some time in commercial financing, I believe our problem has nothing to do with the Business Plan but everything to do with the failure by the FA to ensure Due Diligence of its member’s finances. Vis-a-Vis… With several major collapses already witnessed, and more than a few other clubs close to collapse and/or struggling to…[Read more]

The way I see it is that I think WD hasn’t listened to GH. Thus, as soon as WD was out of the way GH conducted a few of those ‘tweaks’ I suspect WD threw out, and Lo! we almost immediately became a more connected team. GH also picked up on the way we treated the ball as a ‘hot potato’ early season and changed that too. The startling transformation…[Read more]

    Thought provoking.
My take on this comes from listening to Glyn talk about the Peterborough game. He mentions “Tweaking” a few things, and about how he wants the team to “get comfortable” on the ball rather than treating it like a hot potato.
These are not the words of someone looking for a short term ‘caretaking’ job, IMHO, these are the words of…[Read more]

At the risk of being an armchair critic, I watched the Coventry v Dons match on ifollow (which as usual, broke down for several minutes).
Of the game, the result doesn’t surprise me one bit. We don’t play 3-5-2, we play 8-0-2. We are dreadful at free kicks, and even throw-ins from the critical final third are poor. Vis-a-vis Reilly and O’Neill. SO…[Read more]

Can’t be from the Bar takings…

Browsing the infernal net last night, I see that Me Bang-yin Goaks is available from North Korea for seven pot noodles a week and a full length picture of his leader.
Meanwhile, Baolo Innetto says he is fed up with playing in the Campari and Soda Sunday Liga Sardinia and has ambitions to move to England. Not sure if we can afford the Fiat 500 he…[Read more]

OK… So let me see if I’ve got this straight…
    We play a relegation candidate.
    We have home advantage.
    We command for 45 minutes.
At 61 minutes we gain the advantage of a sending off.
    THREE minutes later they equalise.
At 85 minutes we have our backs to the wall.
Oh Woe, Oh Woe, Oh Woe is me.
Don’t leave it till February to wake up guys, because…[Read more]

A frustrating start. However, a sudden spate of injuries has, I think, done more damage to our performances than we might believe.
The one thing I don’t get, especially now we have so many key injuries, is why WD has not put Waggy out there. Whether he dislikes him or not, we need a wise head on the pitch and Waggy has proven consistently to be…[Read more]

Astute observations as always Windlesham. I offer a couple of tweaks if I may.
I think McDonald will go. I thought he did just enough in defence without being impressive. I personally believe this new giant (Rueben?) we’ve given a pro contract to will be the benchwarmer this season, and may get his chances if WaG decide to put Will in that sweeper…[Read more]

Listening in from South Carolina it struck me that while our fragility at defending leads is beyond exasperation, the appalling Sunday league refereeing standards have once again played into the hands of the FA’s general dislike of us… or perhaps I’ve spent too long in the land of conspiracy theories? Nevertheless, analytics will show that over…[Read more]

Hmmm… My response to onyadon’s question could be “Ask me that when we have 51 points…” but there’s no doubting the team have a more positive outlook these days. Without mentioning names (they are routinely missing from the team sheet or have gone to foreign climes anyway), WD has clearly either sussed out what and who makes the squad ‘tick’…[Read more]

What a to do. I share the consensus view here about who and what, but I offer a conundrum…
What if WD is taking the gamble of sacrificing what was surely a winnable game in order to maintain the fitness of his key player/s for the fight against relegation? What if WD’s contract has a clause in it that has L1 survival as the carrot for a longer…[Read more]

Let’s face it. With the money we’ve made from the cup run, most of the players know they’ll be gone at the end of the season. Thus, there’s no point risking an injury when there’s a cup payout waiting at the end of the week to tide them over while they hunt for some other gullible club during the summer. I’m certain this is why the standard of…[Read more]

Well that’s that then guys. League Two here we come. With the worst record in League One, everyone around us getting better (with the possible exception of Rochdale), and now everyone above us with a game in hand, I really cannot see any way back for us. Yes, miracles do happen and I still hope for one, but to go down 3-0 at home to a team we only…[Read more]

So… Wally Downes hasn’t even picked up a ball yet and he’s already been chastised for his use of Social Media.
Jeez… another Donald Trump… that’s all we need.
Apparently though, he does have a plan to turn our fortunes around…. this’ll hopefully be the ‘Plan B’ that NA never seemed to have. Unfortunately, playing the fishmongers in the…[Read more]

Well, so long Mr NA. You did give us some good times and some great times and despite my frequent frustrations with your methods and decisions, you will be respected as the man that got us to L1. But I also think you probably did more to our internal structure than we may ever know. If you have a crowning achievement in your time with us then, I…[Read more]

Well, there you have it… Eric has spoken.

It’s clear from this that a change of management is not imminent. Yet, many will continue to believe that, contrary to Eric’s statement, NA HAS lost the squad’s respect and needs to go. (The twitter feeds…[Read more]

    A very good question Windlesham.
My gut feel is that the youngsters in the group (ie Piggott) are being led by someone else within the group. I want to point the finger at either King or Wordsworth. People like Piggott have pretty much hit the big time in their career… he must know he’s the only one scoring, is popular with the fans etc etc.…[Read more]
