You express and articulate our shared viewpoint extremely clearly Windlesham! I’ve needed a lot of persuading that WD is the right man for the job, and I’ll need even more after the Millwall defeat. As you say, yesterday was a black mark in WD’s copy book, with painfully costly mistakes. I just hope WD doesn’t banish Wagstaff completely as his won’t (Trotter, Jervis, Watson all among the disappeared). WD seemed to be the only person at KM yesterday who felt he shouldn’t play some sort of role in the game. Maybe WD is doing the Ardley routine of “I know best, sod the fans who know nothing about football”?? Careful how that one goes Wally….

Personally, I believe that Waggy will be moved on in the summer, which I think will be a mistake…

What a to do. I share the consensus view here about who and what, but I offer a conundrum…
What if WD is taking the gamble of sacrificing what was surely a winnable game in order to maintain the fitness of his key player/s for the fight against relegation? What if WD’s contract has a clause in it that has L1 survival as the carrot for a longer term offer for him?
What if our highly astute Eric has done some number crunching and concluded that L1 survival is worth more than another round in a cup that would, as it has to date, been seen by the players as a better payday than trying to play up to secure L1 survival; (hence WD’s decision had a tacit agreement?)
I’m not talking conspiracy here, I’m just thinking out loud.
If I’m in any way right, we’ll know soon enough. Personally, I think it will all end in tears, and probably 48 hours from now (US EST).

The other issue concerning me from last week was a tweet from ex-player Andy Frampton, suggesting that Downes was a terrible man manager and not a good long term appointment.

Now if this was posted by a young hot head, or by someone with a grudge against the club then it could be dismissed. But Frampton was always level headed and a model pro when he was with us – he has no axe to grind and no advantage to be gained. In the same tweet he expressed his continued support for the club.

Frampton was a player at Brentford when Downes was manager from 2002-04, so he spent some time under him.

Why did he take to Twitter to express his feelings? We’ll probably never know, but for me it increases the doubts in my mind that Wally Downes is the person to galvanise a changing room. It also provides some evidence to support the suggestion that Downes has fallen out with Scott Wagstaff…

To escape relegation this season we are going to need a united squad, with every player pulling together. Time will tell whether Wally has the ability to create this atmosphere in the dressing room…

Well that was just the fillip we needed after the FA Cup defeat – and sitting here this morning the six points from Walsall and Rochdale is a happy pay-off for Saturday’s huge disappointment. Rochdale away was on my list of “to go to” away games this season, but it being moved to a Tuesday evening in half term week – when everyone’s off work so I couldn’t get the day off – meant I couldn’t go. But boy oh boy what an exciting game to follow on Radio WDON. Utterly riveting, a pulsating bottom of the table scrap in which we showed exactly the fight, passion and character we need if we’re to have any chance of surviving in League One. To be honest, I’d relaxed in recent League games having pretty well given up any hope of survival. With no hope to kill, it was a case of sit back and enjoy – or just watch at least. The trouble with last night’s excellent result is that it has reignited faint glimmers of hope again, so the Charlton game will be a tense affair again rather than the pleasurable watch it might otherwise have been! Nail biting days are back….

Can we do it, survive? Who knows, it remains a gargantuan task, but maybe it’s Kilimanjaro rather than Everest that we now face as our mountain to climb. It’ll be breathless in its ups and downs I’m sure.

And a final word to our goalscoring hero at Spotlands. Time for me to eat some humble pie I think! Pigott really came in to his own and showed perhaps that he can cut it at this level! I remain to be convinced that he’s a week in, week out goal threat up front, but last night he did exactly what was needed, scoring two very good goals – and showing the composure under the most intense of pressures to convert that very last minute penalty in front of the away fans. Hats off to the Pig, a great performance – at last! Please more of the same at KM on Saturday…

Hi Pete, Wednesday evening here and still pinching myself about last night’s result, especially after waking up early, seeing we conceded after 2 minutes then going back to sleep.
So we still have hope, despite the precarious position we are in.

I am free every night that you are here. Plus the other mad Dons fan here should also be able to meet up. I live in a suburb called Brompton which is very close to the city centre ‘s suggest we meet up for drinks and meal in the city centre on whatever date suits you. On a non-football front the Adelaide Fringe Festival is on at the moment in case you want to see a show. My mobile phone number is 0481321566.
