It all ended without much fanfare – an all-in social media blackout to support anti-racism saw to that – but the Dons have survived the drop and will play in their sixth campaign in League One next season.
It was all a strangely flat muted outcome given the months we have all pored over the table permutations to check how many points the Dons would need to avoid relegation, yet not even a 3-1 loss at home to promotion-chasers Portsmouth could prevent Wimbledon from staying up.
Rochdale and Northampton Town both lost and with it their remaining mathematical hopes of staying up, so Wimbledon achieved their target without getting a result on the penultimate weekend.
There is still one match to play next Sunday (early midday local ko) against another promotion hopeful Lincoln City, but we can all watch without anxiety as Mark Robinson’s team have confirmed their League One status.
Now an interesting part of Robbo’s management will get underway as he begins to reshape the squad how he wants in the coming months.
It was an incredible turnabout by Wimbledon under Robbo. Inheriting a team that had earned just two points out of 33, the Dons racked up 28 points from the next 60 and achieved safety with a game to play. An outstanding effort from Mark Robinson to turn around the club’s fortunes.

As expected talisman Joe Pigott has declined to sign a new contract and is leaving the Dons on a free transfer, aiming for a Championship club.
It is a significant loss ..

It will be a test for the club’s new recruitment committee to find a suitable replacement, whether it’s a signing or on loan.

Another disastrous result! We’ve been in 9th or 20th position for months now. How have we been so lucky to maintain that? The teams below us must be dreadful.
