I hope Ardley’s career is not terminated because of Shrewsbury and/or Stevenage. Talk about two non-entity places to move to a gloomier future. Is the club supporting him to the best?
Take the positives. We scored a goal and we’re not bottom of the table, but that’s it. The players tried hard, but came up short again. We were good in the first 45 without being outstanding, but for all the pressure and possession, we didn’t really have that many chances. Hanson scored a goal and the Shrews didn’t seem to show any real threat. For once we thought we could win this.
All that changed in the second half. Shrewsbury came out a different team and put us under pressure. All of a sudden we looked nervous again. Hanson went off injured, and we looked rudderless. Long balls up to Piggott, but he can’t hold up play like Hanson.
Their two goals were REALLY disappointing. Not because they scored, but because they were both identical. Crosses from the left to the back stick. More of less free headers back across goal and a forward unmarked near the six yard box. As if this wasn’t bad enough, they’d had a couple of other identical opportunities. We just don’t seem to want to learn our lessons.
At the final whistle all the players slumped to the ground. Their body language said it all. The coaching staff have their work cut out to get them up again for Friday’s game. There’s a reason why the BBC have chosen this game as one of their live offerings. At this rate, Havering must fancy their chances, and who can blame them. Anyone want my ticket, because I’m not sure I can take losing again!
So, a poor performance against Haringey and the guvnor may be doomed? Looks like we’ve reached the point of no return. Shame really, as I don’t think the manager should always take the full blame for the performance of the kids underneath. You can only work with what you’ve got. Pay peanuts and you get monkeys, Mr Chairman. Such bad timing when our evil sibling has just thrashed Crawley.
I think it’s about time to remember Barnstonworth United. Compared to them, our plight isn’t half as bad. Just look at the first 7-8 minutes to cheer yourself up 🙂
Anybody know if the game is on the tv in OZ on Saturday morning
Martin,
I have checked the Saturday morning (AEDT) TV listings, BeInSports and ESPN and it is not scheduled, so suspect no FA Cup coverage in Australia. (Maybe a blessing!)
