Great to hear that the final contract for the stadium has been signed and is due to complete this October. Also welcome to Nick Robertson and I appreciate the detail that the club shared on our new minority shareholder in their statement.

We are told that he has taken a 10% stake and invested an unknown amount in our club. I would imagine that this investment although substantial would still leave the club needing to take out a bank loan to help finance the stadium but given that the club have signed the final construction contract they are obviously confident that any loan needed will be secured.

I think its fair to say that this FIFA announcement makes the resumption of league football for this season more unlikely, which is a shame. I would have liked to see some league football played this season behind closed doors and in as hygienic environment as possible so it could be shown on free to view.

Found it a really useful update by Joe Palmer as it communicated the planned stadium completion date, although that may not be the date from which games can take place, and also that in advanced discussions with a potential lender, although it didn’t also say the value of the loan under discussion.
As somebody said there isn’t any information about where we plan to play before the stadium opens next season. One possible option if it could be arranged is that we play away games until the opening. If this season goes ahead and isn’t completed until mid July say then it could be that next season commences late in perhaps mid September making this more of a realistic option.
Sorry to hear that international travel from Australia
may not be possible until later this year

Am increasingly thinking that obtaining substantial external investment is the only way out of the current situation.
The club has been losing money for years, and excluding exceptional items I can’t remember AFC recording a financial surplus since we were promoted to the Football League.
As a consequence the Club has admitted that it had to use monies from the Kingsmeadow stadium sale to supplement the playing budget in order to retain L1 status.
Our current business model is only sustainable if we dramatically reduce expenditure in line with a non-League say a semi-pro set-up and I wouldn’t like to see that happen!

After all, the Club has admitted that it used £2m plus from the Kingsmeadow stadium sale to supplement the playing budget in order to retain L1 status.

Yes, it was great to get the first win and in the first half we played really well.

My take is that the team were set up to attack and attack they did with the first goal coming after a few minutes. I thought Sanders was excellent as well and I hope he will be a real asset for us this season.

Thought we were the better team and their second goal came right at the end of play but it was two goals let in nonetheless! Before yesterday I’d not seen AFC for over a month so I suggest only tentatively that the team needs to defend better as well as attack. As an ex-attacker himself Hodges might need a more defensive minded number two to provide balance now that Wally- (an ex-defender) has been suspended….
