Windlesham, I may well miss tomorrow’s game – if so, it would be the first home league game I’ve missed this year. I’m taking my daughter up to Nottingham for the start of university; and only if she doesn’t want embarrassing old dad around will I get back in time for the game. If I do make it, I’ll certainly look out for you.
As for the game, I can see Ardley doing what he’s said he’d do and bench players who assume they are guaranteed starters but are out of form. Darius Charles certainly looks like he needs some time out, and either Nightingale or Robertson could stake their claim. I’d start Poleon and Elliott up front, since Taylor did nothing last week at Charlton to merit a start again.
The result? Like you Windlesham, I’m hoping for a 2-1 win, but all games are so tight in this league it really could go any way. Now a tonking 4-0 would be just wonderful….!
I’m sure you could pull off the embarrassing dad act Singapore, it is the Dons after all! ;o)
Shrewsbury at home – a game we should win if we are going to have a good season but a game we often lose. I reckon it will be one of those days today. A home defeat to one of the lesser teams in the division. I just hope I’m wrong. COYD
I left Nottingham at 1230 and drove 150 miles, rather fast, to watch a dire League Two football match, with equally poor League Two refereeing – and arrived 15 minutes late so missed our only goal. I was already rather upset after settling my daughter in to her new university and saying goodbye to her childhood, so I had rally hoped for a Dons pick me up. Instead it was a kick in the teeth. Only a brilliant save by James Shea brought any relief. So bad was it I can’t bring myself to write any more. If you missed it, lucky you.
PS Windlesham, I did check the middle bar after the game but couldn’t find you. Next time?
Very disappointing result today. It’s a home fixture against another team towards the foot of the table that could easily qualify as a “must win” in 6 months time. Let’s hope we snatch something at Coventry
General consensus is two points lost against Shrewsbury Town (so far) the poorest team to come to KM this season. That said a couple of positives. James Shea again looked good for his second appearance this season (and we need him to do that regularly as the front-line keeper). Some claim he looked confident, commanding his box, claiming crosses (not generally his strong suit) and he was beaten by a significant deflection. So little fault there.
Also Lyle Taylor had one of his better games this season and scored his first goal of the campaign. We need him to reproduce that regularly. Apparently the defence went better, if not the attack with the number of scoring chances the team had.
We are away to the bottom team Coventry City on Wednesday and a note of caution: It’s the Sky Blues’ worst start since 1919. That concerns me as they are well overdue for a win!!
