Incredible final day in the Championship season and three clubs are down to face Wimbledon in League One next season..
Gulp! League One survival next season just got that much tougher with the relegation of Charlton, Wigan (pending) and Hull joining Sunderland, Ipswich, Portmouth and Oxford in the third tier… plenty of key player decisions ahead for Glyn on a tight budget.

July 24, 2020 at 12:13 pm #14758onyadonKeymasterA low-key and anticipated start to Glyn Hodges’ summer recruitment campaign with the signing of right-back Cheye Alexander on a free transfer from non-league Barnet. It is first of what is expected to be two or three signings over the summer with the rest supplemented by loans. Given the tight financial situation AFC Wimbledon is in over running a small budget and building the new Plough Lane stadium this is the reality. The interesting moves by Glyn and Nick Dawes will be who they bring in as loans given the outstanding success in recent seasons of Aaron Ramsdale, Marcus Forss and Steve Seddon. That will define our season. A loan goalkeeper is close to being announced with indications it will be Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman, 24.
Happy to announce I have joined @AFCWimbledon
I’m super excited about the next chapter in my career.
Big year ahead 🔥💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/14sFyvjXcO

July 25, 2020 at 12:39 pm #14759onyadonKeymasterMight not eventuate but notice a mention in this local report that apart from interest in Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman on a season loan, the Dons are also considering former youth product Joe Bursik to fill the important role.
Here’s the report Birmingham and Stoke keepers are loan targets for AFC Wimbledon
It would be generally well received by Dons fans IF Wimbledon do land Bursik on loan. The lad is highly regarded as this piece from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley last season conveys.
Joe Bursik attracts serious interest
Another factor in a possible link with Bursik and Stoke City is that Glyn Hodges was the Under-23 manager at Stoke for almost five years before he became Wally Downes No.2 at Kingsmeadow in 2018. Hodges would still have contacts at Stoke that he could call on.
May only be paper talk, but a move for Bursik is not totally out of the question.August 1, 2020 at 10:46 am #14760onyadonKeymasterAFC Wimbledon are set to sign former Crawley Town striker Ollie Palmer on a free transfer – recruitment source has told Football Insider.
Let’s see, shall we?….AFC Wimbledon set to sign former Crawley Town striker Ollie Palmer on a free transfer
August 1, 2020 at 1:51 pm #14761onyadonKeymasterAnother rumour doing the rounds is former Peterborough United midfielder Alex Woodyard to sign with Wimbledon.
He was a first-team regular in his first season at London Road before manager Steve Evans was sacked and replaced by Darren Ferguson, who announced Woodyard was not in his plans, saying at the time: “I’ve looked at the start of the season and had a conversation with Alex and he’s one who can find another club if he gets a move that is right for him.”
Woodyard was expected to sign with Tranmere Rovers after playing on loan there last season but since Tranmere’s relegation to League Two and the departure of manager Micky Mellon, he is reportedly looking elsewhere.
Interesting quotes from Mellon at the time of his loan signing last season: “He was at the top end of the players we wanted to bring here. He’s got the right mentality and is the right type of person and he wants to come here and play. He’s a good age, good experience and we will definitely be better off with his qualities in the group. I’m delighted to bring him in.”Interested to see how this one plays out if he does land at Plough Lane, although wouldn’t surprise if Evans tries to get him to Gillingham.

August 5, 2020 at 10:34 am #14762onyadonKeymasterWimbledon have confirmed the key loan signing of Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman until May 23 next year. Trueman is 24 and made 10 appearances for Birmingham during the last 2019/20 Championship season as he largely played back-up to Lee Camp. It is Trueman’s second loan spell following a stint at Solihull Moors in the National League during the 2017/18 season. Obviously hoping Trueman will live up to those loanees who’ve come before him, notably Aaron Ramsdale and George Long. Given the current strength of the Dons squad, Trueman is expected to get plenty to save in the next campaign. Expect some more imminent signings to be announced.
Glyn – “Connal is at a great age and he could potentially end up being the Birmingham number one so we have got him at a good time and he’s hungry to do well. He is forging a career for himself and if he comes here and does well for himself it will be great for both parties.” https://t.co/ELuMTZeU4n

Only Aston Villa and Wimbledon failed to keep a clean sheet away from home in the English top four tiers in 2019/20. That is Connal Trueman's first task. #AFCW https://t.co/dlRZMyeHCG
