Hi Liam,
I hope you do come over in April. We may be holding a wake for our League 1 existence, but it would be good to catch up with a beer! I hope the apartment is still on track, I haven’t seen Dave for a while. -

Well that was a long, long trek to Sunderland – and thank goodness I had a match ticket and got there early so didn’t experience any of the awful turnstile delays that prevented hundreds of Dons from missing the first half an hour of the game. I’m so glad I didn’t miss that first half an hour, because that was when we created our best chances and…[Read more]

More topsy turvy times with the Wombles! Possibly the worst performance since 2002 against Fleetwood was followed by definitely the best as we ripped into West Ham and deservedly progressed in the cup. It was a night to compare with, and possibly surpass, Liverpool, Accrington, Fleetwood and Crawley. The atmosphere was pulsating and the match…[Read more]

Hi Pete, just watched the extended highlights of the game. You are in the footage right at the end wearing your yellow and blue wig. Very pleased for you and all Dons fans, after all the doom and gloom recently. And good to get a bit of revenge after the League Cup game. Dare we hope that we can still turn things around in the League? Imagine if…[Read more]

Wow! Wow! Wow! With cup football, there’s always the chance the minnows can sneak a win, but if anyone predicted us doing it in such style, they’re lying through their yellow and blue teeth.
Walking to the ground 45 minutes before KO, you could hear that Kingsmeadow was already rocking from several hundred yards away. Credit to the fans who…[Read more]

Where did that come from? Listened to the TalkSport call (not bad either) and was astonished and thrilled to hear the Dons score FOUR times to tonk the Premier Leaguers West Ham. You could obviously sense that Wally/Glyn had them up for the challenge, the Hammers were not wanting it as much (particularly for the first hour) and when that fourth…[Read more]

Well, maybe we are being too pessimistic. If we can knock four by West Ham, then bottom of the table is not an accurate reflection. I hope Downes can build on this.

Hi Pete, hi John, hi Colum.
Thanks for posting on here despite the poor results. Looks like we have to start preparing for League Two football next season.
I may be over in April so possibly we can drown our sorrows over a few beers.
Take care

I should add: spineless midfield. No fight, no control, no energy. We have a team that cannot pass a ball. And there is no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck and impose some authority and creativity. We desperately lack any sort of playmaker or midfield dynamo. Only Dylan Connolly offers any sort of hope of something happening when…[Read more]

That was as shambolic and woeful a performance as I’ve seen at KM in a long, long time. Utterly dire, we were quite frankly an embarrassment. Only Aaron Ramsdale seemed to display any passion or fight. The ten outfield players to a man were a disgrace. The defence was crap, the forward line non existent. Pigott game by game is being exposed as…[Read more]

Well that’s that then guys. League Two here we come. With the worst record in League One, everyone around us getting better (with the possible exception of Rochdale), and now everyone above us with a game in hand, I really cannot see any way back for us. Yes, miracles do happen and I still hope for one, but to go down 3-0 at home to a team we only…[Read more]

Here’s my best moment of Saturday’s game. Ramsey’s knee slide to the edge of the area when we equalised. He really does seem a quality keeper, and I love it when players show some emotion.
My worst moment has to be THAT miss by Jervis. We could easily have gone in at HT 3-1 up. Sure Ramsey was by far the busiest keeper in the first half, but…[Read more]

Nicely summed up, Pete, saving me writing any match report!
Certainly Tuesday is a must-win fixture now, let’s hope that WaG come up with a tactical plan to get us the three points otherwise I will start planning for life back in League 2.
I’d add to your player assessment plus points for Terrell Thomas, who seemed to fit back in alongside…[Read more]

Windlesham and I met with friends before the game at Kingsmeadow, and predictions of defeat abounded – indeed there was one 1-4 scoreline which was spot on. I was the only voice of optimism going for a 0-0 – such are the highs of our positivity these days! But my optimism was terribly misplaced, and we were put to the sword by a very good…[Read more]

Agree with you, Singapore, we are going down unless we recruit at least two quality players in the next two weeks.
We need a striker, undoubtedly, but even more than goals IMO, we have to exert some control in midfield and stop sides like Coventry strolling to within shooting distance without our midfield getting close to making a tackle. Our…[Read more]

A point gained or two points dropped? Sitting in the Ricoh Arena watching the game, it felt at the final whistle that it was a bit of both. You could argue it was a point gained because Coventry were relentless in their pressure, which we withstood pretty well (in big part thanks to Coventry’s woeful finishing), and at the end when they hit the…[Read more]

It has been an up and down week for the club.
The cup draw was a good one, although perhaps some of us were a little blase as we have played them already this season (and Chicharito has shown us how “professional” Premier League clubs can be by getting McDonald sent off with a horrendous dive). The subsequent confirmation of TV coverage was a…[Read more]

Bit of a bizarre feeling to be optimistic when the Dons are bottom of League One. But the change in management has certainly seemed to help in recent weeks. Not only has there been a decent return in terms of points, but also the bonus of reaching the 4th round of the Cup. West Ham at home might not be the money spinner we hoped for, but at least…[Read more]

Agree wholeheartedly, Rob, the smiles are starting to return to the faces of the supporters.
Wally and Glyn seem to have simplified the information being passed to the players and freed them up to play to their strengths. Towards the end of the Ardley era there seemed to be a certain amount of ‘paralysis by analysis’ and this has been removed.…[Read more]
