I really can’t get any enthusiasm up for tonight’s match against the club that shouldn’t exist. I probably won’t even listen on iFollow (if it actually works!)

Having said that, it is an important match despite my disinterest, as we need a performance and a win to kick start our season. The longer we go without a win the easier it is for…[Read more]

ok not the greatest of starts and we are looking ahead a game we must get a result out of v Accrington. Two 2-1 losses is not the end of the world (I thought that Rotherham would be hard to beat but was quite hopeful of a result at Fleetwood.

The best said about the scum match is to get it over with. Hopefully with a win, as last season opened…[Read more]

Birthday today the big 20 so hoping it’s a sign for a 2-0 win tomorrow night against the scum feel like we may do alright this season we could of grabbed a point against Rotherham and they will be up there so here’s hoping

A frustrating start. However, a sudden spate of injuries has, I think, done more damage to our performances than we might believe.
The one thing I don’t get, especially now we have so many key injuries, is why WD has not put Waggy out there. Whether he dislikes him or not, we need a wise head on the pitch and Waggy has proven consistently to be…[Read more]

Two matches in and what have we learnt that we didn’t already know? Nothing. Nada. Bugger all. If there was any early season optimism, it must surely have dissipated by now. This will be another long and hard season.

I’m trying hard not to be too negative about those who’ve played in the games so far, but the threadbare nature of our squad is…[Read more]

The season is barely a week old, but the writing is firmly on the wall for us. A threadbare squad is already being hampered by injuries throughout its spine.

A loanee keeper with a longstanding groin issue, a captain cursed with a body not up to his will (no pun intended) and a midfield talisman who has mysteriously developed an injury that…[Read more]

My bad, but I had not realised that we are up against MK Dons this Tuesday in the League Cup. Perhaps not the best time to meet them (when is?), but a win would install some fight in the team surely? I have no idea where Fleetwood is, and have some vision of a terrible long journey to some northern town that reached its heyday in 1870. I’m always…[Read more]

The Dons are off to Fleetwood Town for their first away match of the season with Wally Downes urging his team to carry on the resilient form of the second half in the opening 2-1 defeat to Rotherham. Wimbledon have a tough start to the season: Accrington Stanley are next at home followed by back-to-back away games at promotion fancies Sunderland…[Read more]

Good threads on Saturday’s game have pushed me into contributing my thoughts….
Despite the loss felt aok when the FT whistle blew.
Enjoyed the second half…first half the only good bits that I remember were Tzanev’s point blank save and Kalambyi’s great turn and sprint into midfield. He’s could become a great player; similar too but probably…[Read more]

I can’t disagree with Singapore’s excellent match report. It puzzles me how a team can be so bad one half, and the complete opposite in the second. This match perfectly highlighted what we already know. Namely:

    – It will be a long, hard season near/at the bottom of the table.
    – We’re not nearly big or strong enough.
    – We can battle hard and…[Read more]

Windlesham, I share your thoughts on Hartigan starting. As I said, I was surprised he was chosen over Wagstaff – but as you say, WD seems to have something against him. Like the rest of the team, Hartigan was missing in the first half – our whole midfield was invisible. But I thought he did ok against a big, physical team in the second half -…[Read more]

Thanks, Singapore, for a detailed summary of the game.

I agree with 99% of it, but in my opinion Hartigan shouldn’t have started. For me, the game passed him by and he was neither athletic enough, nor physical enough to impose himself. Knowing the type of game it was going to be I would have started Wagstaff and brought Ant on for the last 20…[Read more]

And so the season starts – with a juddering end to our undefeated run hanging over from last season. This was always going to be a very high mountain to climb, facing a strong Rotherham team tipped for promotion straight back to the Championship, with eleven players all well over six feet tall. After 45 minutes of Men against Boys, it looked like…[Read more]

    Football is back!

I agree with all the previous posts, this season is going to be one of survival and it’s going to be tough. Wally has accepted his lack of resources and embraced it – he has a squad of young and hungry players and the group seems pretty ‘tight’. We will try and sneak wins by being fitter, better organised and willing to scrap…[Read more]

I agree that the goal is survival. Until we move back to the new Plough Lane, then I think our hands are tied. For the past few seasons we have relied on one player to get the bulk of the goals, whether that be a Pigott, a Taylor or Akinfenwa or whoever. Trouble is when that player doesn’t show up. I see a repeat of last season, albeit with a…[Read more]
