Oh dear, we really are in serious trouble. Our current players are clearly just not good enough. They lack the fight, the passion, the staying power to overcome adversity. We miss the experience and leadership of Charles and Fuller at the back, the buzzing energy and grittiness of Reeves and Bulman in midfield, and the prowess and power up front…[Read more]

The greatest danger to the club might well be a rotting apathy. Expectations at games are zero, fans are numb to defeats and less angry now because there are no hopes any longer to be dashed. There’s a general air of resignation to failure. The will to fight on and off the field is diminishing it seems. The malaise is palpable. All this is r…[Read more]

Rob, as John says, such drinking and ill discipline would explain the sidelining of the four players. The drinking might also explain Pinnock’s inability to last 90 minutes on the pitch, and could well explain why Pigott was reportedly throwing up at half time against Portsmouth! Perhaps he wan’t sick, just badly hung over 🙁
Whatever the tru…[Read more]

Thanks for the steer John. It really would explain the inexplicable sidelining of Pinnock and Pigott, and Wordsworth if injury is not the real reason there. King I think was dropped because he was performing poorly, though after McDonnell’s costly errors I wonder if King may reappear.
One point to add from last night. There was no booing or d…[Read more]

What Instagram pictures Windy? When did they appear, what did they show? I’m not on Instagram to know or see. But I have been struggling to rationalise why Pinnock in particular doesn’t get more game time, and why recently Appiah starts ahead of our top scorer Pigott. McDonnell has been at fault for conceding two set piece goals in the last two…[Read more]

I said after the Bradford Tuesday night defeat in September that it was a time for head before heart. Four defeats since then, only one goal scored and seven conceded, yet the heart still dictates to our very great cost. It really does feel
like head in the sand times. We played ok last night, but as Ardley says time and time again players ar…[Read more]

PS The other big downer from yesterday is that Plan B failed. Windy’s and many of ours calls for team changes including dropping Trotter failed to deliver. It was same old, same old. Is there a Plan C?!

Resignation. No not Neal’s. Mine, to the ongoing woes and ineptitude scarring our Dons world. It’s really sad, but I’ve slightly given up on the hope now. We all know it only kills you, and enough is enough. I didn’t go to Blackpool, thank goodness, so can’t comment beyond saying that from the stats and radio commentary we demonstrated again tha…[Read more]

Agreed Windlesham. It’s a point I’ve made in posts elsewhere. We are really missing Darius Charles’s steadying hand and leadership in our young defence, and the older heads in midfield are so uninspiring in every way that thee is no leadership there. And no blood and guts motivational play up front either. The team is bereft of a real leade…[Read more]

In the cold light of today’s bleakish Wednesday post-Bradford morn, pre and early season seems now to have been nothing more than a blink of the eye blip of buzz and excitement, which has well and truly given way to our usual state of frustration, disappointment and dejection. Watching Wimbledon in August really was fun. It was so odd but…[Read more]

Unfortunately I’m missing my first home game tomorrow since still working in China – so no prematch chewing the Dons fat tomorrow Windlesham. I’ll be cheering the boys on from Beijing. I just hope the ref doesn’t disadvantage us as he did at the Fleetwood home game last season. Let’s have those 3 points! COYD!

Despite the beautiful sunshine, a very disappointing away day in Burton. I’m hoping we’ll chalk this down as a blip, a bad day at the office. We’d lost our last three games, but I came away from all of them entertained and happy that the team had given 100% for the cause. Not yesterday. At the final whistle I felt that familiar sinking feeli…[Read more]

Devon, I’d much rather keep Deji. He’s so important for us: a reassuring, commanding presence at the back, and someone from whom the at-times nervy Nightingale and Sibbick will learn so much. (One goal saving sliding tackle by Sibbick yesterday was absolutely superb and straight out of the Deji school of blocking). Also, great to hear Deji sou…[Read more]

Yet again, how did we get nothing from that game? Spitting mad at the shocking refereeing which he again robbed us of valuable points; and by our lack of killer instinct up front. Too gutted to comment any further. It’s just deja vu.

And further agreement from me. Tuesday was a freak result and goals, which belied the overwhelming
stats in our favour. Sixteen years ago today we beat Cove 3-2 in our first Combined Counties win while Sunderland were lost 1-0 to Everton in the Premier League. It makes today’s fixture all the more incredible and exciting. Sunderland are clearly a…[Read more] -

Great to see you at another away day Liam – that’s three already we’ve shared this season! And good to meet Dave. My goodness the team had to be good at Barnsley, and they delivered. We were disciplined and resolute against a very impressive ex Championship side who were incredibly quick and powerful, giving us no time on the ball at all. Our bac…[Read more]

Great to see you at Fratton Park last night Liam – what a difference to that Borehamwood game! We are being treated to some wonderful football: assured, composed, creative, silky passing – boy, it really feels like watching “the beautiful game”! This team is so, so different to last year’s. A calm confidence and resilience courses through the b…[Read more]

Well that was a thoroughly enjoyable away day up north – a great win in glorious sunshine. It was a superb team performance, with confident and solid displays by every single player. There was a real togetherness and energy which was utterly refreshing and engaging. We looked a very different Wimbledon to the one of last season – a much, much…[Read more]

Wonderful to bump in to Liam at Boreham Wood to watch today’s friendly together. All the more jealous now of his wonderful Plough Lane news! We had a great afternoon together. As for the game, it was very much a pre season friendly! But it was great to see Mitch Pinnock put in another MOTM (for me) performance on the left wing: an assured d…[Read more]

After losing Dean Parrett, I’m delighted to be sponsoring the home and away socks for our new lively left winger, Mitch Pinnock. Having seen Mitch put in an outstanding performance against Brighton, with some of the best crossing I’ve seen in a long time, I’m excited to see this young lad in action hopefully week in, week out this season. I tip h…[Read more]
