Secret AgentParticipantLast night was a great reminder of why the FA Cup is so loved by lower league (and non-league) clubs. Replays on a Tuesday evening under the lights, a decent away following, game plans going out of the window after conceding before many had managed to get to their seats. What’s not to love?
At halftime, I said to my friend that we needed to bring on Azeez and Moore if we were to turn things around and threaten the York goal. Not quite Devon Womble prediction ability as I would have replaced Sutherland and Rigg, but NA knows the players better than me and it worked almost instantly. Moore solidified midfield just in front of Barratt and Benno, while Azeez scared the bejesus out of the York back five with his pace but also his lines of running which stretched the defence and allowed more space fro Tubbs and Bayo.
For the third game in a row at Fortress KM (sic) the first goal came from an unexpected force. Jack Smith must have heard about Ben Harrison’s 25 yard screamer for the U18s in the FA Youth Cup earlier and his run into the box to take Bayo’s knock down and finish so calmly was a relief for all but the York fans!
From here, there was only one winner and despite desperate attacks from York, Shea again showed why he was at Arsenal for so long and the back line held firm(ish). Indeed, the decisive third goal came from a York corner where they could have scored but for once a clearance went to our player and with Ingham treading water trying to get back, Bulman released Tubbs who was saved from being offside merely by having been in our half when the ball was played (apparently).
So, a win and another away tie to contemplate, with the carrot of a potential money-spinning draw if success is earned in Bucks. Nice position to be in!

Secret AgentParticipantA bit of a surreal game at Carlisle. Both sides looked poor at the back yet none of the goals could be put down to goalkeeper error. It was just bad decision making, poor play and good finishing when the chances came for them. Had we been as clinical, we’d be celebrating an 8-4 victory, but Rigg, Sammy and Bayo were guilty of missing good chances and Bayo had a superb effort with the outside of his right foot saved well by their keeper.
At least there were more goals than the last time I went to Brunton Park. Only one more goal in total but three more for us. I think it was one of those games where neither team thought they were going to win as more goals looked likely right to the end and that’s how we got our point!
Good turnout by the Dons, 420 is 50% more than Stevenage brought to KM last weekend!!
I’m sure that NA is scratching his head about how to coach the errors out of the players for the next game as that was all that cost us really.
Anyone remember the last time we had a 4-4 draw? Been racking my grey matter but can’t place one.

Secret AgentParticipantLiam – XL home shirt is out of stock as is that size in Polo shirts! My XL shirt is a bit short on me and I’m only 5’7″ so if you’re much taller than me be better off in the next size up which is in good supply.

Secret AgentParticipantRob – Jake Reeves would give us something coming forward from midfield for sure. Good player who may give NA a reason to play a different formation or personnel in midfield.
We know that NA is a fan so maybe he’ll be in for him.August 30, 2014 at 12:52 am #9499
