As expected talisman Joe Pigott has declined to sign a new contract and is leaving the Dons on a free transfer, aiming for a Championship club.
It is a significant loss ..Pigott’s 20 league goals and 5 assists this season meant he scored or assisted 46% of the Dons’ goals, the highest individual contribution to a team’s goals anywhere in League 1.
Massive loss and tough to replace …— wombles downunder (@WDownunder) May 26, 2021
Joe Pigott was one of the Dons’ most prized assets scoring 54 goals in 156 games in all competitions in last three years. Wimbledon were keen to secure him on a new contract but he will be leaving for nothing. Let's see which Championship club snare him. https://t.co/y25O80FWFv

It will be a test for the club’s new recruitment committee to find a suitable replacement, whether it’s a signing or on loan.
Now Joe Pigott is off plenty of expectation on the new recruitment committee to come up with an adequate replacement — as if you can easily replace a 20-goal League One season striker.

Thank you for the incredible welcome for the players and staff. Not the performance we wanted to give you but a great learning experience our young players inc15 year old Archie Stevens. Most importantly we are home and we need to replicate the fans achievements.

Some 30 years (and 14 days) since we played Crystal Palace at Plough Lane, we’re back in front of the fans in Wimbledon again.
To all the members, fans and volunteers and everyone who believed, THANK YOU! #WeAreWimbledon #WeAreHome pic.twitter.com/tfuRE9SScO

💙💛 A 3-1 loss in tonight's test event versus Liverpool U-23s, but the result was immaterial. Our fans are back where they belong – and if this is a sign of what's to come…… pic.twitter.com/etbOKH1t6q

First time in Plough Lane for 30 years. Reading Erik Samuelson‘s book reminds me of how many people I have to thank for bringing the club back home. Thank you to all. Can’t wait until the first full house. What was the final score again? #AFCW #afcwimbledon pic.twitter.com/Y5JuLe9OBj

A time of pure joy and reflection… welling with pride watching the Dons fans rise as one to clap and cheer those lucky Wimbledon players to experience this landmark occasion, thinking of those not able to be there and those dear Dons brethren no longer with us. This is for you.

May 2, 2021 at 1:01 pm #14967onyadonKeymasterIt all ended without much fanfare – an all-in social media blackout to support anti-racism saw to that – but the Dons have survived the drop and will play in their sixth campaign in League One next season.
It was all a strangely flat muted outcome given the months we have all pored over the table permutations to check how many points the Dons would need to avoid relegation, yet not even a 3-1 loss at home to promotion-chasers Portsmouth could prevent Wimbledon from staying up.
Rochdale and Northampton Town both lost and with it their remaining mathematical hopes of staying up, so Wimbledon achieved their target without getting a result on the penultimate weekend.
There is still one match to play next Sunday (early midday local ko) against another promotion hopeful Lincoln City, but we can all watch without anxiety as Mark Robinson’s team have confirmed their League One status.
Now an interesting part of Robbo’s management will get underway as he begins to reshape the squad how he wants in the coming months.
It was an incredible turnabout by Wimbledon under Robbo. Inheriting a team that had earned just two points out of 33, the Dons racked up 28 points from the next 60 and achieved safety with a game to play. An outstanding effort from Mark Robinson to turn around the club’s fortunes.April 21, 2021 at 1:44 pm #14966onyadonKeymasterThe finish line is coming into view, Rusty… four more to go..
Some tweets I’ve been posting..Fourth straight win for Dons, but status quo as Wigan, Northampton, Rochdale and Swindon all win, while Shrewsbury, Burton and Plymouth come into view above.. four to go, five points clear, it's in our hands… pic.twitter.com/L4R7WS02HR

Good time @AlexWoodyard1 to score your first goal for the club, and as you say your most important one. Let's not wait too long for next one, eh? pic.twitter.com/rkXjK0waoo

To come: Ipswich (a), Rochdale (h), Portsmouth (h), Lincoln (a)
April 18, 2021 at 12:32 pm #14964onyadonKeymasterCertainly is some turnaround, MacWomble… Looks as though Mark Robinson’s coaching/mindset is rubbing off on the players – many of whom were under him during their Academy years. Still five games left, we’re not over the line (yet)… but reasons to be optimistic.

What a thumping header from Will, Ollie Palmer growing in confidence and pace and what a reverse ball to release the lively Assal, sweeping passes from the midfield, Dobson's range is impressive. Coming together nicely, Dons…https://t.co/N0DUaNvJY8

January 31, 2021 at 1:59 pm #14904onyadonKeymasterTRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE
[No players involved in this update but two significantly outgoing…]It is with a genuinely heavy heart that I have to announce that we have parted company with Glyn.
CEO Joe Palmer made the announcement of Glyn Hodges leaving the club by mutual consent just hours after the club’s poorly-received loss to THEM at Plough Lane. Given the raw emotionalism of the defeat, given the historical background and just TWO points from the last 33 – and a sixth consecutive defeat at fans-less Plough Lane – the writing was well and truly on the wall. Yet, given Glyn Hodges stature in the Wimbledon story it is a sad, poignant day.
Joe Palmer…
I think it says it all about the man and his love for the club that we were able to come to this decision together. I want to place on record my thanks to Glyn and Nick Daws for their efforts in my time here, and I wish them both every success in the future. Glyn’s service to Wimbledon goes back a long way and he leaves the club today with our thanks for all he has done for us over the years, as player, coach and manager.Neal Ardley, Wally Downes and now Glyn Hodges all gone inside 27 months. All revered Dons figures: rising from apprentices to managing the club, now one by one crashed and burned, there’s a message as we as a club pick up the pieces and move on.. and we will – over time. COYDs.

The first team squad will be looked after in the interim by Mark Robinson as the club faces the daunting challenge of escaping relegation in the remaining 21 games of the season. We’ve been through all this before, it will be another tough struggle especially as the Dons have not won a league game since December 2. As good a coach as Robbo undoubtedly is he somehow has to pick up a squad massively down on confidence and self-belief and saddled with a brittle defence. Robinson only has goalkeeping Ashley Bayes left as support, but the club is expected to announce coaching reinforcements to help with training and match preparation.
I've interviewed Mark Robinson many times over the years, I've even been fortunate to stand on the sideline with him and been in a winning dressing room at Newcastle. A good man, but encourages you to get out of any comfort zone. Give him your support. #AFCW
— Rob Cornell (@Dons_Sayer_WDON) January 30, 2021
Robinson’s elevation is shades of Simon Bassey’s caretaker role following the sacking of Terry Brown and leading into the Neal Ardley era. It is hoped whatever the club decide going forward that Robbo does not become another casualty, given his immeasurable work over the years with the club’s academy and development of current first teamers – Hartigan, Nightingale, Rudoni, Osew, Kalambayi, Zach Robinson.
Wimbledon’s fate this deteriorating season lies with Mark Robinson. A good decent man, with a sharp football brain, and who has nurtured many of the first team squad from youngsters to pro footballers. Get behind Dons fans, give him your support. This is a huge time for the club.

Found this lovely tribute to Glyn Hodges. For many of us it is a sad time to realise his time as player, coach and manager at Wimbledon has come to an end. Football is not always about fairytales.
Thanks for everything, Glyn Hodges. See you back at the club soon. #afcw pic.twitter.com/VwML7o6lMS
