Well, break out the ‘Crazy Gang’ videos… Get Anthony Wordsworth to grab somebody’s nuts, and teach NA to shout “Kick the bl**dy ball” in traditional Kinnear fashion and all will be well…. just so long as Trotter and Soares are not ambling around midfield when the ball comes back at us. Frankly Wagstaff, Hartigan, and Pinnock look vastly…[Read more]

Even during last seasons lows… and there were too many to count, I would still sign up to idontfollow, or, if at work, run a sneaky check on the Live updates when I could.
Yet today, I just don’t have the heart to even bother checking until I get home tonight around 10pm GMT.
For someone who has followed the club since 74/75, I think that’s…[Read more]

There hasn’t been this sort of outpouring on WDSA for quite some time. Since I didn’t get to see the Bradford game on i(dont)follow, I thought I’d find the courage to watch the ‘Highlights’… (wow was there ever such a breach of the trade descriptions act!)
For me, it really is down to NA now, no ifs or buts. He started the season with what…[Read more]

Well that says a lot about our performance!
I have to wonder when watching our lot get completely clueless (usually after some complex theories from NA) if they aren’t just being overloaded with too much clipboard tactics.
Sure, there are the basics but, we’re not in the premier league, we just play football (or attempt to). Sometimes those…[Read more]

I don’t know how many here are on Facebook but I offer this quote from a West Ham supporter who posted this on the Dons page:
“…the score didn’t reflect the way you played and that Nightingale was a pain in the arse the second he came on the pitch.”

I agree with the general comments about how much more ‘joyful’ it is to watch us play this season and on that basis a solid mid-table finish will be more than enough to satisfy me. However, based on the current rate of bad refereeing decisions, we will need more than just good team performances to cement that if this continues!
    As for a solution…[Read more]

Well, despite the fact that we squandered lord knows how many chances, I have to hand it to the bent ref for missing another of the world’s great ‘hand of god’ moments on the Sunderland goal-line.
On that basis, I award the Numpty Refs the point we should have had from the game.
That makes it Dons 5pts – Refs 4pts.
Just think where we’d be if we…[Read more]

At the risk of being labelled an armchair critic (I accept rebukes from present company), that was poor. Yet what it did reveal (for me watching on ifollow) was that:
1> McDonald had absolutely no control over the back four, who, irrespective of the two own goals, were almost completely dysfunctional as a unit. King knew that too and virtually…[Read more]

If the game had taken place in the USA I doubt the Referee would have made it to the car…
Today’s exploits by the pillock with the whistle also make we realise why there is no such things as transfer windows for Referees…. few of them would be worth a cent.
AFCW 0 points, Referee 3 points… I shall be keeping tabs.

Phew! Only 16 more wins to safety….

The 4-1 defeat at Havant may well demonstrate that despite virtually having an entirely new squad we still haven’t learned to wake up for the start of a match… something that cost us so dearly last season.
I’ve no doubt the manner of such a heavy defeat will also have been noted by our League one opponents….
    Hmmmmm….

This is indeed terrible news. I had Deano down as our key midfielder for next year. What with the anticipated news on LTB’s future, that might at best leave us with a couple of decent defenders and one perhaps rusty striker… and very little else.
Bring on the youngsters… I doubt we’ll find anything better out there, especially if we can’t even…[Read more]

Well, there it is. Robinson going was inevitable, and Fuller, I, (along with many I suspect) predicted he would move on too. (Thank you for a great Captaincy.) Generally those released therefore would seem to be largely anticipated.
Seeing Long go was also inevitable. Boy oh Boy are we going to struggle to replace him! As for the offer of…[Read more]

Well, I humbly admit that I am very glad to have been wrong about Doncaster.

The Summer then, will prove to be an interesting interlude and one I have no doubt which will provide a new era for the team if not for the management too… (Note NA’s half voiced ‘We’ll see’ sign off to Slavin during his interview after the Doncaster game.)
    My gut…[Read more]

Another blood (quite likely in Fuller’s case); and guts display worthy of being listed in this season’s Hall of Fame… especially for George Long (who may have just secured my Player of the Year vote).
However, what I personally feel about our display was that it also demonstrated NA’s misjudgement this season. Misjudgement not only in choice of…[Read more]

There can surely be no greater motivation for our Manager and players to do what is required of them than knowing the scum, (sorry… those who must not be named) have almost certainly been relegated today. HOORAY!!!!
Equally I guess, there should be no greater motivation for our fans to really get behind the team in these remaining games (me…[Read more]

Phew! Thank Doncaster for the cancellation… pity NA didn’t have the balls to call for one too.

As for our future, while some faithful still cling to hope of survival (and I applaud them for their optimism), I do not.
Perhaps what worries me most is that when I look at the squad and what we might start anew with, I find that most are now too…[Read more]

I see there’s a pitch inspection tomorrow (Friday). Can’t we just opt to accept the pool’s panel result? Oh…. three points to Charlton… Hmmm.

  • Devon Womble replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 8 years, 3 months ago

Well, this is a Winston Churchill day…. (“We will fight them on the beaches…”), but I have to say that I feel the outcome today will not be the result we are hoping for.
I just don’t see us turning the current disaster around in one game, and especially not against a team in form and on it’s way up.
My doom laden expectation has been largely…[Read more]

  • Devon Womble replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 8 years, 3 months ago

Well, the widespread expectation proved correct.
From what I saw on ifollow’s jerky efforts, most of our defensive woes boil down to the fact that with eight and often all ten players defending, everyone expected someone else to tackle the opposition player bearing down on our goal. Thus, as they were busy looking at each other, the pass would be…[Read more]
