I wanted four points from the Charlton and Walsall games and got six. Things could have been very different if Charlton had scored rather than hitting the post, and we didn’t have a very generous referee in the 96th minute at Walsall. We could have only two points from those games and on 45 points going into the Oldham game. Another three points…[Read more]

That looked like a much better performance, especially in the first half, but our old demons came back to haunt us. The lack of a proven goalscorer. The defensive frailty over 90 minutes over a side that hasn’t won a game in ages. This was a game for the taking, but we just came up short. It’s a good point, but it feels like two lost. Had we won…[Read more]

Here’s a question of a slightly different type. Why the hell did we sign Lloyd Sam? He’s obviously not fit, and we don’t really need yet another midfielder who can’t run fast. I just hope we’re paying him on a match fee basis and that he never gets further than the bench.

Whilst I agree with you MacWomble, if we lose on Friday and other results go against us, we could well be back in the bottom four.

Of all our remaining games, I can’t help feeling that Rochdale away is the most important. We simply HAVE to get something out of it. A point would do, but three would be nice. It won’t be easy, as Rochdale have some good players and play an open brand of football. Plus as they’ve shown in the FA Cup, they’re no mugs. Their league position doesn’t…[Read more]

One final word on the Oxford game. Liam Trotter won Man of the Match. He was the stand out contender, and it was great to see the big man at the post match festivities. You can catch part of it on the AFC Wimbledon Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/dominic.gunn.9/videos/1231186803678847/
This type of carry on is what makes our club…[Read more]

A lot has already been said about the Oxford game. I won’t disagree with a lot of it, but I will with some of it. So by way of my own opinion, here are some additional thoughts of yesterday.
I spent the first 45 minutes having to button my lip. Why? Because around me were a large group of Ardley bashers who spent the entire time taking the piss…[Read more]

Standing there with a T-shirt, shirt, two jumpers, a fleece, and a coat (oh and two bobble hats) it was only mt feet that felt cold last night. I’d lost feeling in my left foot by half time! If you think last night was cold, I was talking to a man next to me that was in Prague last Sunday watching Bohemians play, and he said his beer froze at half…[Read more]

Before the game I’d have agreed with you Liam, but being 1-0 up with 15 minutes left a draw does feel like two points dropped. Hopefully it won’t matter come the end of the season.
Tomorrow’s game against Blackburn looks like it could be on. The club has put covers on the pitch, but today (Monday) there’s been snow showers all day. Nothing too…[Read more]

The Northampton result was the worst performance I’ve seen in a long long time. Sure they were helped by some horrendous decisions by the officials. From the moment that blatant dive won them a penalty, we were doomed. Northampton did what they did best. Time wasting and committing petty foul after petty foul. When LTB was booked for taking a free…[Read more]

So let’s get this straight. A player agrees terms and comes to Kingsmeadow to complete the formalities. Halfway through the medical he asked to bend over whilst a huge rectal thermometer is produced. “Bugger that” said player and went off to the delights that is Southend.
Joking apart, this really beggars belief. If this is the way players can…[Read more]

I’m delighted that we’ve signed a forward. Joe Pigott certainly seems to have the credentials, but I was struck by a comment Neal Ardley made in the formal announcement video. He said that at the Scum game, he looked around at who he could bring on who could help the forwards. There was Forrester and Kaja who he described at wingers.
This seems…[Read more]

We get £27k prize money for reaching R3. As for gate receipts we should get 45% after the usual expenses are deducted. But with tickets at £10 each that only about £475,270 if they all paid full price. Judging by the number of young fans there on Sunday, I say a good estimate for ticket sales would be £350k. As Wembley is an expensive place to hir…[Read more]

Seven points out of of twelve and both Soares and Trotter scoring. Who’d have predicted that before Christmas? Trotter was my MOTM against Southend as well!
So now we go off to enjoy another visit to Wembley. After that it is back to the league and a game against you know who. Win that, and they’re where we are now. Now that would be something to…[Read more]

That was never a nil four scoreline game. We may not have been helped by some refereeing decisions, but Neal Ardley was right. It was the lack of discipline that cost us. When Forrester ran 25 yards across the pitch to challenge the ref, he was always going to be walking a tightrope. Throw in the ref’s willingness to add Dons players to his list…[Read more]

The Carlton Cole saga isn’t over until it’s over. Playing in Indonesia is one thing, but playing in League One is another. He obviously needs to get fit before anything can be decided. Even then, if he gets a better offer somewhere else, he’ll likely be off. It would give the squad a boost to have him around, even if it is in the background.
With…[Read more]

Woohoo! What a draw, with the added bonus of being able to give Dele Alli some stick.

Just spotted ace football manager (according to his own PR) Karl Robinson slamming his players after their loss yesterday. See http://www.kentlive.news/sport/football/football-news/charlton-athletic-boss-slams-missed-870832. Poor old Naby Sarr gets it fully in the neck. Yes he didn’t have the best of games, but such man management skills will do…[Read more]

So we’re in Monday’s round 3 draw. Who do you want to get? Most seemed to want an away tie against Arsenal or Tottenham (at Wembley of course). Outside choices would be Chelsea or Newcastle away.
Whatever happens in Monday’s draw, there is no taking away the enormity of this win. It was a thrilling cup tie, with both sides going for the win.…[Read more]

That’s a bit of a gamble if true. OK 24 goals is excellent, but League One is not the Isthmian Premier.
