It’s the same every year as the Meet the Manager event approaches. The Gaffer must dread these attempts at transparency. He knows he has to deliver, but with the resources he has available, he also knows how difficult that is.
Things are looking slightly better than a couple of weeks ago though. Meades has resigned, and we’ve three new signings including two main ones in a keeper and target man. Rumours also abound of another striker not far away from signing. If true, that will provide a much needed boost to tomorrow’s event.
There’s still work to do though. We may have left back and the keeper sorted, but the rest of the defence needs work. Another centre back and right back. We also need some more strength in midfield. If the management work their magic, we may well be able to go into the first game with a renewed sense of optimism.
Sit tight. Neal may well have learnt his lesson from his last few transfer windows. Time will tell.
right back is apparently very close if thats true from the wimbledon account afcwagent on twitter then i am pretty confident that it wont be announced today but at the event tomorrow like kennedy last year, not heard anything on another striker, but ive heard maybe a centre back is close to, ive heard a name in gillinghams ben nugent but dont know how reliable. ive seen a couple right back rumours but don’t know how reliable any of them are. the only question i have is if we get another striker, does that mean kwesi pr cody are on their way out?
Just a quick post to pass on my congratulations to Liam Nolan and Dave Kenwery – that’s going to be some housewarming party!!
Looking forward to seeing you both at more games in the future.
What’s the news with Liam? I’d like to pass on congratulations too, but don’t know what they’d be for!
Good to read about the win yesterday. Have been feeling rather meh about the club, only reinforced by MTM which was really uninspiring, so I gave the game a miss (the £20 price tag ridiculous for a friendly). Enjoyed instead a fantastic family BBQ in the balmy sunshine and cheering on our roaring Three Lions.
Anyone go to KM yesterday? How did new keeper and Pinnock look?
Hopefully not betraying a confidence before Rob has been informed, but they have bought an apartment at NPL!
It was only £10 to get in Pete, and the match was worth it. King looked solid, vocal and more Long than Clarke so far. Pinnock was also impressive, with a good cross and useful long throw. The Pig has been in the gym and Kwes looked sharp. Best of all some of the youngsters looked promising in the second half.
…and England won…
I’ve been winding up my wife about buying a flat at NPL. I even managed to get some of the family involved at a recent get together. She thought I was serious for awhile, but I went too far when I said I’d stay there (note the singular) every Friday night to Sunday afternoon!
It’s not nearly as good a wind up as my sister’s friend who made his wife think (for three months) he’d bought a wrecked Cessna aircraft he was going to do up. He even went to the trouble of having crane operators quote for delivering the wreck to his back garden!
Now that’s what you call a wind up, and yes they’re still married!
