Well it seems the dreaded departure is happening. I could have stomached him going back north, but to Millwall???! OK Championship, but nasty club. Feel like saying good riddance.

Rumour of Tom being given a three year contract at £6k a year. I’m not going to begrudge him that sort of deal, especially as he remains injury-prone.

I worry that the ‘lovely’ Millwall fans will turn on him pretty quickly if he doesn’t do the business – the move will be very good for his bank balance, but may not be so good for his self confidence.

Was expecting the news but really thought it would be a northern club. He will almost certainly be third choice at Millwall, but fair enough that he will be on a good wage there. Just one thought, courtesy of Paul R, would he have gone there if they had not gone up?

It appears moves to sign the goalkeeper from the Championship have fallen through – looking elsewhere for a GK but away from the Championship.
Another development: Stoke City eyeing young Joe Bursik as a goalkeeping backup. Would be a fee involved if he were to go the Potteries.

Hearing that Neal Ardley’s name was mentioned at one stage in their compensation wrangling with Pompey over manager Paul Cook as a bargaining tactic. Contact says a few clubs see Ardley as a potential good’un. But while not in Pompey’s sights as Cook’s replacement (apparently it’s Kenny Jackett) was warned to make sure Ardley is contracted in case an offer is put to him from elsewhere.
And if Ardley has any interest in Pompey players it may be a good time to strike with the club in limbo amid its ownership takeover.

Oh Dear… Isn’t there some proverb about not throwing the baby out with the water… or at least not throwing Shea out before making sure you have a replacement? What with Bursik almost certain to be lost too, I wonder how our Kiwi now feels about being in the gun-sights of the opposition (and potentially our fans) next season?
On a better note, did anyone see Appiah ‘appiaring’ on the scene (groan!)? If he regains his form, his pairing with LTB could be quite exciting.
