Off to Roots Hall tomorrow for my first away trip for a while. If anyone is going along (Pete?) then I plan to pop in the Blue Boar for a drink and then across the road for local fish & chips before going to the ground!
Tuesday illustrated once again the confidence that a settled team, a set method of play and some decent results can bring.…[Read more]

I was there on Saturday for the Donny win. I stood on arctic Donny station at 8.15am talking to Rovers fans and said “where are you going” to which they replied “Wimbledon”. They looked at me funny when I said “that’s where I’m going” so we travelled down together to SW London.
On the AFC facebook page, I go by the plural Humberside Dons,…[Read more]

Hi Pete, hi John.
Amazing what two wins can do. We may still be bottom of the table, but we are are back in touch with the other strugglers.
Very relevant that most of our remaining games are against teams in the bottom half of the table. Six wins out of nine would probably be enough, but don’t want to tempt fate, so just let’s get 4 points (or…[Read more] -

Agreed Windlesham, there’s a whole new positivity around the club. An absolutely fantastic atmosphere last night at KM, and such jubilation at the final whistle. Three consecutive clean sheets, wins over two play off contenders, second in the form table – what a turnaround. The players’ belief is beginning to rub off on to the fans. Eight of our…[Read more]

Hope to see you over in April, Liam, and hope that the team is still hanging on in there for you!
Many thanks to John Marquis on Saturday for shooting himself and Doncaster in the foot! Up until his red card there was little between the sides, but them going down to 10 men was the boost we needed.
In contrast to Charlton in the previous home…[Read more]

So yesterday’s win over Doncaster keeps our hope of survival alive. Will probably need at least six and probably seven wins to stay up. Huge task, but not impossible given some of the teams we have yet to play. Must admit I wasn’t convinced that Wally Downes was the best appointment, but he has brought in some decent players and got rid of…[Read more]

Hi Pete Good to know you are having a good time. I arrive back this weekend but I imagine that you will have left by then.
Might see you in April. To witness the Great Escape ☺️🤞

Thanks Liam. We’re staying on a friend’s vineyard (seen kangaroos, koala and kookaburra on their property), and went to see a Shiraz crop being processed at his brother’s winery (Smidge) in McLaren Vale. All amazing. Great meal at Star of Greece and swimming in the stunning sea at Willunga. This weekend at their beach “shack” in Hardwicke…[Read more]

Hi Pete, glad you are enjoying yourself. South Australia is certainly a good place for wine. This time last week I was showing friends from the UK around the Barossa Valley. Try Coriole in McClaren Vale if you get a chance.
Hope you manage to survive the heatwave coming on the weekend. Fingers crossed for the Dons on Saturday. Regards Liam. -

Oh no, sorry to miss you Liam. Have been having the most relaxing but amazing time in the Adelaide Hills, staying on our friends’ winery in Verdun, his brother’s in McLaren Vale, lunch at Star of Greece and dip in the sea in Woolunga.

Hi Pete Liam here. Unfortunately I have had to go overseas at short notice so can’t make the 4th or 5th.
Please try calling Paul Russell on 61417864996 if you want to chat with a fellow Dons fan. Or maybe post on the AFC Wimbledon International Facebook page. Once again apologies for not being able to see you. -

IMO Saturday was a match that illustrated almost perfectly why we will not be plying our trade in League 1 next season.
45 minutes of high energy ‘up and at ’em’football, where we scored one, but weren’t clinical enough in front of goal to get a second. Followed by 45 minutes of being dominated, not having the ‘nous’ to break up Charlton’s…[Read more]

Well Windlesham. We did outplay Charlton for 45 minutes, but to win a game of football you need to do that for the full 90. Unfortunately we didn’t do that.
The warning signs were there in the first half. We were especially prone to issues when Charlton spread the ball wide. I lost count of the number of times our full backs (and especially poor…[Read more]

Hi Pete. Have woken up to another defeat this morning. Going to be almost impossible to survive.
Either Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th is fine for me to meet up so whatever suits you. -
Windlesham Don replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 7 years, 2 months ago
Agree with that summary Colum, but of course it is the hope that kills us!
What can we expect today – the Fleetwood/Burton experience, or the Walsall/Rochdale experience? Wally has talked about consistency, but during his two months in charge we have seen little of that. The defence is still woeful at times – just look at the goals conceded at…[Read more]

Well. Where did that win come from? A win is a win, but now that the initial euphoria has subsided, I can’t help feeling that it just delays the inevitable. We conceded three goals, two of which were virtually immediately after scoring ourselves, and one straight from the KO. Such defending shows defensive and mental frailty. OK we scored one more…[Read more]

Great Liam! I think Monday 4th March may be best – or Tuesday 5th. Shall we pencil in then? Let’s hope after Charlton and Shrewsbury we may be in more hopeful and celebratory mood!!

Hi Pete, Wednesday evening here and still pinching myself about last night’s result, especially after waking up early, seeing we conceded after 2 minutes then going back to sleep.
So we still have hope, despite the precarious position we are in.I am free every night that you are here. Plus the other mad Dons fan here should also be able to…[Read more]

Well that was just the fillip we needed after the FA Cup defeat – and sitting here this morning the six points from Walsall and Rochdale is a happy pay-off for Saturday’s huge disappointment. Rochdale away was on my list of “to go to” away games this season, but it being moved to a Tuesday evening in half term week – when everyone’s off work so I…[Read more]
