Yes I agree Rob. Scoring goals is still a problem. Take a look at the last three seasons:
Season GF GA GD P
2018/19 42 63 -21 50
2017/18 47 58 -11 53
2016/17 52 56 -4 57It is clear from this that the more goals you score, the more points you’re likely to get. Hardly rocket science,…[Read more]

A new season dawns – can Wally Downes/Glyn Hodges lay solid foundations from last season’s Great Escape? The opening home game against Rotherham United will be a good test. They have come down from the Championship, have some money, solid squad, good manager and freely tipped to finish among the play-offs. The concern I have (and probably others…[Read more]

I don’t know how I feel going into this season. I’ve watched the Bristol friendly and feel that for this coming season I’m a little sceptical of trott , feel the defence is strong enough for us, I feel we need a centre midfielder to still come in personally I’d like a real nasty player who isn’t afraid to put a foot in but I’m most concerned w…[Read more]

Not long until the season starts. I think the goal again is survival. Defence looks solid, midfield OK without being outstanding, but reckon we might struggle up front.
As always, it will be interesting.
Currently in the UK so got 3 home games and possibly Ipswich away.

Having watched two of the friendlies to date (Brentford and Bristolll City) here’s my observations to date.
Guinness-Walker has caught the eye. What I particularly like is his first thought is to get forward, but he’s also eager to get back and defend. He could be a good find.
Adam Roscrow by contrast hasn’t done a lot. To be fair against Brent…[Read more]

Thanks for the welcome windlesham, I’ve been hearing that surridge has apparently signed along with trott and a couple other players but the only thing stopping most of ours is the players wally wants out aren’t budging. I got told earlier today that there are a few clubs sniffing around championship quality appiah and we are trying to offload him…[Read more]

Good to have you back, Rumours!
Colum, I understand that Hanson struggled to settle down south with his family still up north, so the club agreed to cancel his contract. A shame as he seemed a good guy, but Wally could probably do better with his wages to spend.
As far as Sam Surridge is concerned, he looked good at Oldham for the first half of…[Read more]

So yet another big earner moves on with the departure of James Hanson. The only real surprise there was that this didn’t happen at the same time as the others. Perhaps Wally felt that a fully fit Hanson still had something to offer, and didn’t want to let him go without a suitable replacement. So does that mean we can expect a new signing sometime…[Read more]

A positive start to the close season with Will Nightingale signing a new contract and the arrival of Nesta Guinness-Walker. This would never had happened so quickly under Neal Ardley would it?
Keeping Will is a statement of commitment. He’s in the prime of his career how and has showed us he can make it at this level after a couple of injury…[Read more]

Wally has given the first indications of his summer team rebuilding with confirmation that club captain Deji Oshilaja, Tom Soares and Andy Barcham will not be retained. All were expected to go, no surprises there.
When I saw this after the Bristol Rovers game knew Deji was surplus to requirements and so it turned out…. #AFCWimbledon https://t.co/LgswsYtl76

Devon it has been reported in the papers about Hodges and Gillingham:
I can’t really see it happening personally.

Judging by the number of Seddon related “love fest” posts on the OS, I’d say he is looking for a contract next season. Cynical? Moi?

Astute observations as always Windlesham. I offer a couple of tweaks if I may.
I think McDonald will go. I thought he did just enough in defence without being impressive. I personally believe this new giant (Rueben?) we’ve given a pro contract to will be the benchwarmer this season, and may get his chances if WaG decide to put Will in that sweeper…[Read more] -

As the dust settles on a tumultuous season, here is my guess on the ‘Wexit’ status of the squad:
Leave:
All of the loanees – Jervis, Watson, Garrett, Folivi, Seddon and Ramsdale. There has been some debate about whether Seddon will stay, but I think it unlikely. Ramsdale and Seddon are the only ones who have contributed to the cause, but they…[Read more]
