OK, so I got that one wrong, but it was nice while it lasted. Sad that Smith went to join the ranks of the overpaid and underperforming Shakers…

Attended the DT SGM last night and brought up on everyone’s behalf the problems with iFollow. Erik and Matt Breach urged anyone with issues to email the club so that they can collate issues and take…[Read more]

Just 36 hours until the transfer window slams shut, and despite NA’s statements have we truly finished our business?

Exhibit 1 – Dean Parrett makes a token appearance off the bench on Saturday, but even during his brief showing the management can be heard on iFollow haranguing him to mark a runner…

Exhibit 2 – No sign of Deano in the squad for…[Read more]

Important game tomorrow, as much for the performance as for the result.

Rovers are flying so far this season, unbeaten and with a 100% away record scoring 3 at Bradford and Blackburn. They have also been buoyed by a draw against Arsenal in the League Cup.

I expect Rovers to come at us as Shrewsbury did, but surely we can’t be as bad as a…[Read more]

I share your concerns with our new (and final) signing of the window. No Plan B, and Plan A misfiring…

Saturday needs to be a big step up from the last home game (although Forrester is not match fit so will take no part). There needs to be energy, pace and belief, all of which were notable only for their absence against the Shrews.

    Having…[Read more]

Of course, whatever we would like as a lower league club will be ignored. Money talks, so if the big European clubs want it then it will happen. It will only happen, though, if the whole of Europe falls in line, so I’m sure that there is much negotiation to come…

On to today, and do we have a new signing or not? Someone, somewhere has…[Read more]

Well that was a depressing performance! The best thing in the day was meeting up with messers Nolan, Kenwery and McAndrew of the WDSA collective, but sadly there was very little fat to chew after a performance from the Dons bereft of ideas.

Difficult to pick the bones out of 90 minutes where the opposition strolled to victory, but for me the…[Read more]

Happy birthday Rumours – don’t drink too much tequila! Let’s hope a birthday lifts Kwesi out of his current slumbers as well, he’s been very disappointing so far.

Devon – I don’t get the security around watching abroad. Surely the match passes should be aimed at UK fans who are on holiday? Forcing them to pay with a local bank account is…[Read more]

Devon – Is the only option to pay for the Match Pass via a local bank account do you know?

  • Windlesham Don replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 8 years, 8 months ago

Just been informed by someone who has tried it, that to purchase a match pass you need to have an overseas bank account!! Madness if it is true, but the sort of organisation we have come to expect from the EFL!

Let us know how you get on…

Rumours – Just for you (and for me when I go on holiday) I have on to the iFollow Helpdesk and they told me the following:

As your subscription is UK based then you do not get live matches when overseas (probably one of the reasons that a UK subscription is £45 and an international one is £110). However, when you are abroad you can purchase i…[Read more]

Liam – Looking forward to it.

And so to tonight, and never good news to have your first injury crisis one game into the competitive season!

I was slightly concerned starting the season with three important squad members out (Charles, Meades and Soares), but to pick up another two injuries in the first game (Abdou and Trotter) is a worry.

    Centre…[Read more]

Cheers Liam, I will have a look in the bar for you when I arrive. I have no choice other than to drive and so I will aim to get there early to allow for all the transport issues!

I am scrawny, mid-50s, greying hair, about 5’10” and wearing my ‘watermelon’ away top!

I will try and get there around 18:30-18:45 and will be in the middle bar if you…[Read more]

So the first day of a new season is upon us. If we can get anything out of Scunthorpe then I will see it as a bonus – they are a good side and should be in and around the playoff places come April.

The odd thing about this season is that us UK-based non-travellers will be relying on you guys for informed opinion on the game! I hope that some of…[Read more]

A suspiciously quick recovery from a calf strain by Lyle Taylor? Reading between the lines there may have been something in the rumours of a falling out behind the scenes. Either they have been sorted, or he will be off within the next four weeks – let’s hope it is the former…

Of course, while talking of formations the one I’d love to see the gaffer try (but I’m not holding my breath) is a 3-5-2 as follows:
    Long,
    Charles, Robinson, Fuller (centre backs),
Oshilaja, Sibbick (wing backs with pace to burn),
    Abdou, Trotter/Soares, Parrett (centre midfield),
Appiah/McDonald/Taylor (best pair out of 3).

IMO this would be a…[Read more]

Many thanks for the Aldershot and Ebbsfleet updates guys, now we just wait for the real stuff to begin!

I cannot help but think that the PSFs may have left the squad slightly undercooked. I’d have liked to see the starting XI for Scunny given a run out together this weekend so that they could iron out any creases in a friendly, rather than in…[Read more]

    Hi Liam,

I will be at the Brentford game, but probably won’t arrive until 18:30ish. Will you have a UK mobile when over here? My number is oh771oh 142oh74 – give me a bell if anything changes, or post a message on here.

Looking forward to meeting a fellow WDSA contributor!

Down to earth with a bit of a bump last night, at the hands of our ‘old friends’ from Wycombe.

We couldn’t handle their direct style and in the first 45 minutes Bayo gave our defence a torrid time. He often had several runners off him which he picked out at will seemingly.

In general, Wycombe seemed to treat it as more of a competitive fixture…[Read more]

Liam, I’m sure that both myself and Singapore Don would love to meet up with you and chat over the prospects for the new season when you are here!

I’ll not be at Scunny, but I’ll be at KM for the Brentford cup game and Shrewsbury – it would be great to meet up!

Post on here what time you will be at KM and we can arrange to meet. I am normally…[Read more]

Below is a view of new signing Liam Trotter from a Millwall fan:

“This debate about Trotter has gone on for a long time and was at its peak when he played for us. The honest truth is that on his day he could boss a game and win it for you with some great insight, some incisive passing and the odd goal or two at vital moments.
    Sadly, his day…[Read more]
