I have a really bad feeling about tonight’s match. The vibe coming from the club management is not good and a couple of times on Saturday players were arguing with each other and with the bench.
Either we will produce a performance out of the blue, like at Scunthorpe last season, or we could take a pasting from an in form Plymouth side.
If we…[Read more]

Things are certainly looking up in the camp at the moment. It is amazing what a few decent results can do for squad morale!
The transfer window is about to close with very little interest from us. NA is hoping to bring another striker in to supplement Pigott, but not a sniff of a rumour of who it might be.
A quick heads up, Rob – my article…[Read more]

For me Pigott will be one for the future, but will indeed be used off the bench to give Lyle and Cody a breather.
Personally, I’d have used Forrester behind the front two, with ‘sloth’ Trotter benched, but that is just my opinion.
I am hoping that Carlton Cole proves his fitness and desire so that we can sign him to the end of the season. I…[Read more]

Colum, Erik’s estimate was for us to make £50k out of the tie, but I understand that this was based on a crowd of 30k. With 50k tickets sold I would hope that the final figure will turn out to be £80k-£100k.
Not brilliant, but better than if we had lost in the first round…

Watching the Dons is quite a tough duty at the moment, but I won’t stop going to matches because we are playing poorly. The club has given us some great memories over the years, so I feel that I owe them my support in the difficult times ahead.
NA explained the situation pre-match. We have several creative players out injured (well, only two in…[Read more]

I will be travelling to the Valley more in hope than in expectation tomorrow. I’m hoping to meet up with Singapore Don pre-match to put the Womble world to rights!
NA’s pre-match interview explained some of the difficulties of last Saturday’s fiasco/debacle/unlucky defeat (delete as appropriate). However, he does seem to have a growing habit of…[Read more]

And so on to Saturday and the visit of basement dwellers Plymouth. Despite propping up the table, I am sure that tomorrow will be a game just as tough as Northampton and Rotherham were. The Pilgrims will be desperate to pick up something, despite having a long injury list at the moment – they are even likely to have an emergency loan keeper…[Read more]

There would have been some sore bodies amongst the team this morning after an evening of tremendous effort and commitment. Rotherham were all we had expected – hard, fit, physical and when necessary, cynical. Anything less than 100% commitment and we would have lost. Fortunately we were given the sort of performance that we have been crying out…[Read more]

Saturday was all about the win and the 3 points, and on that criteria it was ‘job done’. However, there was little to get excited about in the change of formation or the style of play.
Many of us had been calling for a change of formation to 4-2-3-1, and remarkably that is exactly how NA put the team out on Saturday. McDonald was dropped to the…[Read more]

Yep, I’ll be there on Tuesday! If you want text updates today then text me and I’ll send them through. Frustratingly, I will have to leave before the end as I am out at a function this evening, so I am hoping that everything isn’t riding on the last 5 minutes!!

Are you going along today, Pete? If so, do you fancy meeting up for a pre-match beer and chat?
Give me a call on oh771oh 142oh74 if you are going.Regards,

When we hit these sticky patches I always feel it is worthwhile to take a step back and try to look at the long term view. It is easy to get caught up in the depression of a poor run of results, but in the history of AFC Wimbledon half a season of poor form will count for little. If we choose to sack our manager, of course, then that will be a…[Read more]

And now back to Saturday, and the phrase that for some reason keeps popping into my head is “sleepwalking to relegation”.
I am getting increasingly concerned that our tactics are not working, and are not going to work however much we stick at them. 4-3-3 should be an attacking system, but IMO we are using the formation in the wrong way at the…[Read more]

Certainly not worth reading anything into last night’s game. The Spurs’ kids were technically gifted, but had no clue how to control (or win) a football match. I am sure all of them could give us 50 ‘keepy uppies’, but win a tough tackle or header – no chance!
The introduction of these PL academies to the EFL Trophy was designed to give these…[Read more]

Tomorrow’s match has a special significance for me. A group of friends won the raffle to sponsor the match and we are going to sponsor it in honour of a good friend of ours (and lifelong Womble) who lost his battle against cancer last year.
If you are looking down, Andy, please have a word with Footballing Gods and ask them to give us some…[Read more]

After a few days to reflect on my first experience of a home game against the Franchise (I was on hols last season), here are my personal thoughts on the evening.
Setting aside the 90 minutes, I found the entire evening quite depressing and if we are in the same division next season then I doubt that I will go along. I have always maintained…[Read more]

Spot on, Colum. Some refs would have given a yellow, but we don’t have a leg to stand on appeal-wise (if you’ll pardon the expression).
A stupid red, and one which leaves us without a ball-winning midfielder for the next three games.
Fortunately for me I am away on holiday for the next three games and I won’t even bother trying to use iFollow…[Read more]

My worry with Parrett is his attitude if he isn’t playing. I hope it doesn’t disrupt the harmony of the squad…

Rob, I wonder if we were trying to move Parrett on to free up some wages, but he refused to go? Only speculation, but he does seem to be being ‘frozen out’ at the moment…

Brilliant! Just typed a long preview of today’s match, only to be logged out when I hit “Submit”. Lost the lot…
Brief summary – I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
