Windlesham Don

Pete – Have a look at a WUPGB post from Wazza at 08:43 this morning. It is a link to a forwarded tweet of an Instagram picture apparently posted by Anthony Wordsworth. The responses to the tweet are interesting.

This could of course all be smoke and mirrors, but putting 2 and 2 together, we arrive at 4 – the 4 squad members who definitely…[Read more]

Very well put, Rob. After last night’s ‘carbon copy’ performance of so many others I would be surprised if the manager lasts beyond the weekend. I expect the end of Saturday’s game to see him say farewell to the crowd, in much the same way as Terry Brown did six years ago.

The Instagram pictures of King, Pinnock, Pigott and Wordsworth on the…[Read more]

Best of luck to Singapore and all the other travelling supporters tonight. I hope your faith is finally repaid by the squad and management and we can bring back something to give us some hope ahead of Saturday’s visit of Luton…

Obviously, I trust that we will also have some scouts at the Corinthian Casuals v Haringey Borough fixture to have a…[Read more]

Having changed the line up and found no more heart, nor desire than has been shown all season, I believe that two poor results this week, at Bristol and at home to Luton, will see the manager depart.

The same comments can be made for yesterday as for many matches this season. Once again we gave away an appalling goal after 6 minutes, and from…[Read more]

Wow! I can’t believe it – it looks like 4-3-3 with just Appiah in place of the ill Pigott different from my wish.

If we lose 5-0 then it is all my fault!

    COYD!!!

My take on that particular rumour is that it is bar talk, initiated by one of the vocal “Ardley Out”ers. However, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Ardley was feeling pretty down after Saturday and during a post match wash up meeting with Erik pondered over whether he could take the team any further.

I’m sure Erik would have given him backing,…[Read more]

Thanks for the heads up on the terminology, Rob. Although not fussed whether Ardley stays or goes, I never felt that his sacking was imminent. Certainly with a Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday set of fixtures coming up, those believing he would be sacked after Saturday weren’t being realistic.

Of more interest to be is that in a couple of interviews…[Read more]

As we say farewell to yet another gallant defeat, I feel that there may be a glimmer of hope in our second half display.

For me, today proved once again that this squad isn’t good enough to play passing football. Trotter and Soares in the centre of the park are too slow and too negatively minded to create anything going forward – their…[Read more]

Despite the wonderful prospect of returning home and to a sparkly new ground in Plough Lane, I find it very difficult to be optimistic about how things are going at the club at the moment.

Obviously, we seem to have the ‘deja vu’ on field issues, which the management team do not appear to be able to solve, but the problems in my view run deeper…[Read more]

Hi guys, just to make my particular view clear, I am not advocating the sacking of Ardley. However, in recent months I have moved from a firm supporter of his to someone who is not really fussed any more.

If Paul Hurst were to be sacked at Ipswich then I would jump at the chance of recruiting him, but other than that I am not sure whether there…[Read more]

Interesting thoughts, Liam, and ones I agree with to a certain extent. However, there are other factors to consider here – if sticking with Ardley will take us down, but swapping managers would keep us up then should we stick with Ardley? Also, there is no guarantee that if we were relegated this season then we wouldn’t plummet straight into the…[Read more]

I’ve been trying to put my finger on why I am feeling more worried about this season than I was during the last two. I have come to the conclusion that what concerns me most is the lack of leadership in this season’s squad.

Gone are the leaders of last season, the big personalities, such as Fuller, Charles and Taylor. I will never forget Lyle’s…[Read more]

Eloquently put, as ever, Pete. Agree with all of it.

We desperately need pace in the heart of midfield, but that will not be provided by Hartigan or Wordsworth (why on earth did we recruit him!?) Wagstaff possibly.

I worry about drafting Hartigan into this side without a ‘ratter’ working alongside him, and without any movement off the ball -…[Read more]

    (continued from previous post)

Three in central midfield would also disrupt NA’s desire to have two strikers unless we go 3-5-2 and to do this we would need wing backs instead of full backs. Watson may be able to cope, but Purrington or Garrett would be a liability.

Up top Appiah looks lost and although the Pig battles gamely opposition know…[Read more]

In my opinion an accurate summation of the desperate performance last night. I would add that in my view Bradford were the worst side I have seen in League 1, which only proves how dire we were.

In the summer a poster made an astute comment that our main problem wasn’t related to recruitment for this season, but related to the personnel we still…[Read more]

I have been disappointed coming away from a few games this season, but I have always been able to cling on to the fact that we were playing high tempo, trying to pass the ball and were completely different to the dross dished up for much of last season. Yesterday I came away angry, because that was ‘dross reunited’!

I thought the three comedy…[Read more]

Looking forward to tomorrow as the second in a series of matches against teams around us in the table. Historically, Scunthorpe have been an open and attacking team, generally in and around the playoffs. However, this season has not gone well for them, winless since the opening day of the season and with Stuart McCall now at the helm. After…[Read more]

Yesterday’s result will allay some of the fears that had been building after a set of poor results. We couldn’t afford to miss out on 3 points yesterday, against a side tipped to struggle at the start of the campaign. Fortunately the team added an end product to another promising display and for the time being we sit in mid-table.

    Saturday will…[Read more]

Having watched Tuesday’s game back I have formed an opinion on why we couldn’t mount any threat after the sending off. IMO it comes down to the midfield – individually I like Trotter and Hartigan, but for me they are too similar. Both have an eye for a pass, but both lack pace and neither tackle – not a great combination for a pair of CMs. Add…[Read more]
