A big Saturday for all us English fans – the Wombles v the Imps preceded by a mouthwatering appetiser as the boys take on the Springboks in the RWC final!

First the rugby and after world class displays against the Wallabies and the All Blacks England come up against the physical might of the Springboks. Unless England get on top early I don’t…[Read more]

I’m liking the Nick Daws appointment as assistant manager. He has the League 1 experience Hodges is lacking, as well as a decent coaching background.

Also happy that Robbo is going to continue working with the first team. Not sure what Ryan contributes, but Hodges is happy with him staying on.

Ten days for this group to work with the squad and a…[Read more]

It’s been an interesting few days that’s for sure!

Starting with Saturday and a classic ‘smash and grab’ three points. Pompey dominated large parts of the game without creating many clear cut chances. We hung in there, defended resolutely and had the luck when needed. Fine performances from Trott, Delaney and Thomas at the back. Wagstaff and…[Read more]

Is today the most important October league game in the history of AFC Wimbledon? I can’t remember a more important one.

Lose and we are in deep trouble, a draw would be disappointing, but not disastrous, a win would demonstrate that there is fight in this team and that they are happier under the guidance of Glyn Hodges.

    Another grim wet and…[Read more]

It’s an unloved competition, but the EFL Trophy has presented us with a confidence boost ahead of a vital match at Southend on Saturday. Consecutive victories and 3 goals scored in each should mean that the training ground is a happier place to be this morning. Obviously the defence needs significant improvement, but a clean sheet last night…[Read more]

Back from the beauty of Santorini to the grim reality of Rochdale at home…

In a long hard season I t’s hard to believe that any games in October could be considered “must win”, but Rochdale followed by a trip to fellow bottom feeders Southend are two matches which could be just that.

The good news for today is that Forss returns from suspe…[Read more]

Bang! That’s the sound of us shooting ourselves in the foot, as Forss got himself a second yellow with a brainless challenge after picking up a first for ‘excessive celebration’.
Wally had just brought on Pigott to go for the win with three up top and we were just gaining some momentum, so Forss’s actions should incur the wrath of both manager…[Read more]

Not even bothering to watch today’s freak show of a fixture, despite it being on TV.

Hopefully two of the new arrivals will start and contribute and that Woody will play some part.

For me the true test starts after today’s circus, with a run of fixtures where we need to integrate the new loanees whilst picking up a few wins.

    If Forss and San…[Read more]

Amazing. Within hours of posting my p*ssed off thoughts and expecting no deadline activity, we get not one but three loanees?!

No idea where the funds have come from, although getting rid of Connolly will have eased the pain, but the club has (finally) seen sense and backed the manager in an attempt to avoid relegation.

At first sight two of the…[Read more]

Saturday’s match day experience at KM was truly miserable – from the unstewarded free for all in the car park, through the attempts to purchase a beer in bars manned by inept and largely disinterested staff, and finally on to the unmitigated dross served up as football!

If the club is not careful crowds will drift away as the season progresses a…[Read more]

We need some form of result today with the trip to Asda:MK next week, but I feel it will be very difficult for us.

Ainsworth will have his ‘somersault with pike’ boys up for the match, so I expect the normal diving, cheating and official-influencing performance from them – it really is quite tedious to watch.

The problem for us is that Wycombe…[Read more]

So 1-1 in the Ashes then…

We are indeed desperate for the return of both Will and Woody, but their absence has demonstrated the paper thin nature of our squad. I’m still hopeful that we could pick up a cheap loanee before the window closes, but we are short in midfield as well as up front.

Several recent signings have simply not stepped up to the plate, with Connolly, M…[Read more]

It looks increasingly like Bury and possibly Bolton will not complete the season. It would be great news for us, only needing to find two teams worse than us – there are a few candidates. Bury look doomed and Bolton’s unilateral postponement of tonight’s match doesn’t bode well for them – it must result in another three point penalty surel…[Read more]

These are bleak times on the pitch. Up against a poor Accrington side who are liable to be battling the drop come April, we couldn’t even hold on to a lead against 10 men.

What concerns me at the moment is a complete lack of ideas or tactical ability. WaG may not have any budget, but they are seasoned coaches at a good level and should be able…[Read more]

There is definitely an air of depression hanging over the club at the moment. After the euphoria of the end of last season there was some hope that WaG would build on the spirit and teamwork during the summer and produce a side capable of a mid-table finish.

Sadly that has not materialised. The budget situation seems to have been worse than any…[Read more]

I really can’t get any enthusiasm up for tonight’s match against the club that shouldn’t exist. I probably won’t even listen on iFollow (if it actually works!)

Having said that, it is an important match despite my disinterest, as we need a performance and a win to kick start our season. The longer we go without a win the easier it is for…[Read more]

The season is barely a week old, but the writing is firmly on the wall for us. A threadbare squad is already being hampered by injuries throughout its spine.

A loanee keeper with a longstanding groin issue, a captain cursed with a body not up to his will (no pun intended) and a midfield talisman who has mysteriously developed an injury that…[Read more]

Thanks, Singapore, for a detailed summary of the game.

I agree with 99% of it, but in my opinion Hartigan shouldn’t have started. For me, the game passed him by and he was neither athletic enough, nor physical enough to impose himself. Knowing the type of game it was going to be I would have started Wagstaff and brought Ant on for the last 20…[Read more]

    Football is back!

I agree with all the previous posts, this season is going to be one of survival and it’s going to be tough. Wally has accepted his lack of resources and embraced it – he has a squad of young and hungry players and the group seems pretty ‘tight’. We will try and sneak wins by being fitter, better organised and willing to scrap…[Read more]
