Windlesham Don

Up for a beer before the MtM evening, Pete. Looking forward to sorting out what hard hitting questions we are going to fire at Mr A! :o)

I should also be at Burton, but happy to be at the Brentford game instead of deep in the Amazon (each to their own, of course).

PS – I thought that Amazon delivered these days, you don’t need to go to them… ;o)

So Cody McDonald has signed giving us (currently) five strikers. Looks like Tyrone will be training with the Under 9s if he doesn’t agree to a move!

One interesting snippet to come from the interview with NA on iFollow was that we are close to signing another ‘first choice’ target, to be followed by a few ins and outs if deals can be done. To…[Read more]

Things have certainly been looking up over the last couple of days! Wonderful news on NPL and the next big step in my view will be the first bulldozers moving in – can’t wait!

Sounds like we are close to signing a new striker, but Rob’s news on progress on the keeper front is really exciting – fingers are firmly crossed to get a solid signing…[Read more]

Agree, Pete, a real dull start and finish to the season!

For me the dullness is compounded by the fact that I have booked a holiday to be away for both Pompey and Gills at home (back for the scum though…)

As you say, roll on some positive news and in my optimistic mind they should arrive in this order:
    1. HE have rejected call for greyhound…[Read more]

rumours – Unless you have seen the name touted around the rumour websites then I wouldn’t broadcast it. If the deal had been done then the club would announce it, if negotiations are ongoing then publicity will not help the club get it over the line. Your source may also be compromised…

Hi rumours, may I ask where you disappear to during the season? You only seem to post rumours during the close season, which seems a little odd for a football fan. Do you have a different handle for posting during the season?

Perhaps not quite as imminent as expected Rob, let’s hope there isn’t an issue wrt the medical. No sign of any new striker either, but as I have mentioned as nauseam my main focus is on the new keeper…

Rumours – Blackman spent last season on loan at Wycombe and they couldn’t have been paying big money for him. He has stated that he wants to play in the Championship or League 1 this season, so we may be in the running.

The problem as I see it is if any bigger fish are in for him…

Sounds interesting, Rob, and the implication must be that we have managed to offload the duffer Barnett to some unsuspecting mugs!

No sign of a keeper as yet, which must be our top priority. As time moves on I guess it becomes more likely that we will be getting a loanee. I still have (perhaps forlorn) hopes of us picking up Jamal Blackman for…[Read more]

I think we also need a wide midfielder. At the moment we have Barcham, the permanently injured Whelpdale and the ‘not so wide’ man Francomb.

I thought that Deji showed great potential when he was here last time, but I share Rob’s concerns over the allocation of tight funds to another centre back. We now have Will, Darius, Robbo and Deji all good enough to start, I would have thought we could have run with 3 of those and looked to cover with Bas/Kalambayi/Sibbick if necessary. Perhaps…[Read more]

Both Erik and Andrew Williams, the Stadium Project Manager, seemed confident that the 2019-20 season was still a runner. The plan is tight, but there is the possibility of overlapping tasks down the road if necessary. It is unusual for Erik to be as confident, as he is naturally conservative when looking at timescales, so that was a good sign…[Read more]

No problem, Rob. There were also some Powerpoint diagram images of the initial build of the stadium which I am sure would be of interest to WDSA members. Hopefully they will be available for you to link to at some point.

I’d like to see us sign both Oshilaja and James Henry, but agree that our budget may be a constraining factor. IMO we need…[Read more]

A few snippets from the Dons’ Trust SGM held at the club last night. A more detailed summary can be found on the DT Webjam. Apologies if it is a bit disjointed, as it is largely a mass of ‘cut and pastes’ from the Webjam.

A majority of the meeting was devoted to an update on the new stadium…

S106: This is the overarching planning document,…[Read more]

Rumour of Tom being given a three year contract at £6k a year. I’m not going to begrudge him that sort of deal, especially as he remains injury-prone.

I worry that the ‘lovely’ Millwall fans will turn on him pretty quickly if he doesn’t do the business – the move will be very good for his bank balance, but may not be so good for his self confidence.

Just popped in to wish Pete (aka Singapore Don) a happy birthday. I hope the blood pressure has returned to normal levels now that the season is complete! ;o)

So the initial release list has been published with few real surprises. Shea, Bulman, Robertson, plus the four youngsters who couldn’t cut it – Oakley, Beere, Gallagher and Fitzpatrick.

Also, strongly looks like Kelly and Elliott will be on their way, although we would like to keep them both.

Intriguing is the undisclosed ‘no future at this…[Read more]

“But near the top of our shopping list this summer must be a fast, attacking right winger. It’s an absolute must.”

Singapore – How can you say that with a fully fit and ‘summer refreshed’ Whelps waiting in the wings?!

    ;o)

An enjoyable last day of the season at Kingsmeadow yesterday. The early start felt quite odd, but a bunch of us forced a beer down before the match! This was after my normal purchase of golden goals tickets from Roger Dennis – I laughingly asked if I could buy the 0-0 ticket in advance, but Mr Dennis declined…

The match itself was a very…[Read more]

As we limp towards the finish line of our first season in League 1, all of the talk this week has surrounded the possible departure of Tom Elliott.

No news has been released by the club, of course, but reading between the lines I feel that his departure at the end of the season is likely.

If he leaves then I will wish him well, but I will also…[Read more]
