Interesting thoughts from Windlesham Don on the debenture offer. I’m totally in support of the reasoning behind the proposal. Yes it does give you a chance of a guaranteed seat which is attractive to some and absolutely it goes some ways towards bridging what will be a massive cash flow predicament for AFCW until the easing of restrictions…[Read more]

First up I have to say that I have full respect for Tranmere Rovers as a club and the fans are amongst the best in League One. When our group went to Prenton Park in December, we headed into the tent that doubles as the Fanzone and were made very welcome. Marco Cura, Pat and I did The Away Turnstile podcast and it was a lot of fun there. As a…[Read more]

Just thinking, as we all battle the attractions of the demon couch, I wonder how difficult it will be to keep players match fit during lockdown. Depending on when the resumption actually happens, I can see quite a few injuries due to lack of fitness coming up.

    Hi everyone :
I’m in Melbourne staying with my son Tomas and his partner in Richmond right next to Yarra Park and the MCG. I kinda got caught here by the speed of the CV spread and travel restrictions and opted to stay here in Aus due to health and personal reasons. Certainly so far I think it has been the correct choice. I’m not sure when I…[Read more]

Glad you liked it Colum but by the end of the game I’d didn’t ‘arf feel like killing him!

After not seeing the Dons since Peterborough away in September, I’ve just done two rather unlikely away jaunts. Firstly Saturday at Blackpool was just imminently forgettable. Only one shot on goal and we never looked like getting anything out of the game. The big fella up front for ‘Pool Gnanduillet, just monstered our defence. Mikey T posted…[Read more]

What to make of the Bury debacle? A crushing disappointment for the fans and the town and the history behind the club but also a massive lessons learned for the rest of us in the EFL. They hugely overpaid their squad in the last few seasons. I can remember they signed Jermaine Beckford who must have been on big bucks and then he got injured and…[Read more]

I got up super early to get the 6.22 from Hull to York then Newcastle and then the Metro to Sunlun. Coming out of the station I took a wrong turn and walked a mile away from the city centre before a friendly local pointed me in the right direction of the Travelodge. Eventually I found my way to the William Jameson Spoons pub and settled in with…[Read more]

I’ll be at Sunlun tomorrow. The weather is nice this Bank Holiday weekend however there is industrial action on the trains on Sunday, so if no-one has heard from me for a week or so, put the search party out for me. I might be stuck in Mackem Land talking some strange dialect that sounds like I’ve got a mouthful of fish.

As for the game itself,…[Read more]

ok not the greatest of starts and we are looking ahead a game we must get a result out of v Accrington. Two 2-1 losses is not the end of the world (I thought that Rotherham would be hard to beat but was quite hopeful of a result at Fleetwood.

The best said about the scum match is to get it over with. Hopefully with a win, as last season opened…[Read more]

My Saturday started with a pre match beer at The Cartwright Hotel. The bar staff were decked out in various colourful Bradford City shirts. They were very accommodating and friendly ladies who were happy to have a group photo with me, which in turn received many comments and likes on the AFC Facebook page.

It certainly was one for my bucket…[Read more]

I was there on Saturday for the Donny win. I stood on arctic Donny station at 8.15am talking to Rovers fans and said “where are you going” to which they replied “Wimbledon”. They looked at me funny when I said “that’s where I’m going” so we travelled down together to SW London.

On the AFC facebook page, I go by the plural Humberside Dons,…[Read more]

Felt it was like the tipping point on Saturday. In atrocious conditions, AFC couldn’t take advantage of Charlton being a player short inside the first minute and then put ten behind the ball. The only ray of right came when Tyler Burey appeared and took on players with a fearless approach that has been completely foreign this season. The…[Read more]

A risky roll of the dice by the AFC Board but I think they have got it right. The mindset will change overnight and I’d say there may be a few players on their last days or games for the club, especially non-performing loanees. It will be very interesting to see what type of game Wally and Hodge will take on to the pitch. Not to mention the…[Read more]

Got to the ground had an enjoyable pint with Andy Vanstan of the immortal Southampton crying picture. The Donny fans were friendly, a nice club. Inside the ground things were quite muted. It was like we were a bit shell shocked from the events of this week, so attempts at songs fell on deaf ears. There was some fight early on from AFC and the…[Read more]

Well my post was an hour too early.

NA has resigned and I’m a little surprised at that in the end. It will be interesting to hear his reasoning but he did state that if we lost to Haringey that he would probably go (or be sacked) and I suppose a replay would have meant the same thing. As is was, a 90+4 win on BBC was probably enough to tip…[Read more]

Didn’t see the Haringey game on Friday night. The pub I went to insisted on showing the Sheffield derby instead.

Well we got through and the money will come in handy but I’m wondering if any of it will go towards the January transfer window. As I said I think the club needs 200k to parachute NA, Cox and Bassey and I’m sure that as prudent as…[Read more]
