Hi guys. Sorry I’ve been off the forum for a while. I am going on Monday. It is a short hop over from Amsterdam and in fact I am going on Saturday to see the Championship play off final as well with my mates from Hull City. I also saw the mighty Mariners win two weeks ago I thought for about thirty seconds about going to see Millwall v Barnsley as well to complete the full set but I think it is best to give that a wide berth.

Instead I will meet Liam Nolan down at Centre Court and see if there are any souvenirs left to purchase and catch a bit of the Millwall game.

I am so looking forward to Mon. I wasn’t at Wembley (although I could have gotten a ticket) or Manchester so there was no way that I was going to miss out on going this time. Should be a cracking game and atmosphere. It is well into the 50k+ sales already.

These are heady days for us. I hope the lads don’t freeze for the occasion. NA has the team playing very well and the way we came back at Accy showed a real desire and belief. The scenes afterwards with the fans were brilliant.

I saw a post from Kevin Gage that he and a number of players from the original Crazy Gang are attending, what a thrill it would be to see them supporting AFC as well. What a weekend in store! I hope wherever you are watching on Monday (Tuesday in Aus / NZ) that you enjoy the occasion as much as I will.

There has been plenty of reminiscing this past week over the Dons’ League 2 play-off final at Wembley on Monday. Memories of when Wimbledon last played at Wembley in that famous FA Cup upset over Liverpool in 1988. Just reflect on that for a moment. Twenty-eight years have elapsed and now one of our own Neal Ardley will lead out AFC Wimbledon on to Wembley in a new era for the Dons. As history shows these opportunities don’t come around all that often. Whatever happens on Monday, it is a special time in the life of Wimbledon/AFC Wimbledon and culminates an extraordinary season for the Dons. The team showed great character and resilience to get past a tough opponent in Accrington Stanley over two games to give them a crack at Plymouth Argyle. It is a tremendous testament to the strides AFC Wimbledon have made in just 14 years. Mind-whirring and perhaps we’re just 90 minutes away from another promotion and all before 20,000-plus Dons fans in a likely Wembley crowd of 60,000. Exciting times. COYD!!

Following on from Dave’s post, we are now in the Prince of Wales pub on Sunday arvo watching the L1 playoff game between Millwall and Barnsley. We went to the pop up club shop in Wimbledon, bought T-shirts and had a chat with Ivor. It all feels a bit surreal and has done ever since that second leg game. Confidence amongst the fans is sky high, because of the momentum from the Accrington games and the strong team spirit apparent within the team. Personally I feel we have a great defence and a dangerous attack, especially when we have three up front, but midfield is a bit weak. If we match Plymouth in that area I feel we have a great chance of winning. Ardley has been excellent in the lead up rightly calling it a great occasion. His subs in the semi final games changed everything and he deserves enormous credit for what he has achieved. So it’s off to Wombley tomorrow. Hopefully I can report on another amazing chapter of this remarkable football club.

Well I guess I will have to eat a little Humble Pie for all my laments about NA. Although, I STILL have some issues with him. For one, the long ball connection to our forwards didn’t work well again today (it never does). It was really only thanks to Taylor running his legs off (quite literally I think judging by his last attempt on goal where he just didn’t appear to have the strength to lift his leg to kick the ball over the goalkeeper); that the team remained a serious threat. In that respect, I am grateful to Plymouth too though for simply not being the team we have played previously.

After changing the format with a substitution, we (naturally IMHO) went into overdrive. Everything started to connect. For me there was only one team going to win it from that moment on.
When Plymouth went for bust, our back four and Roos remained bullet proof, and gave all the inspiration (and service) required for the rest of the squad to drive upfield. (What price Roos and Charles now? Arguably two top targets for NA.)
Nevertheless, I cannot describe the emotions I went through when Taylor (baby) scored, and Bayo put the tombstone on Plymouth’s season, partly because I know my dear late wife and I would have been there, (she would have brought the first tickets), and partly because like so many of us, I’ve been a Don’s fan since the early seventies and seen it all come, and go, and now come again for our club.
So… Bring on the relegated filth, bring on the probably only slight less naff refereeing of League One, give NA another contract (!) and put the ‘Beast’ in the Hall of Fame. It will be a good summer this year, and, quite literally I think, a whole new Ballgame next season.

What can you say, but well done to AFC Wimbledon! What a marvellous achievement. Hats off to the Gaffer and his team. Who would have thought this special result would happen when we were making our predictions last year. And what a challenge we face next year. The challenge to assemble a team capable of staying in L1 now awaits the men handing out the dosh. And two games against the MK Dons will add to the spice just nice. In the meantime I love the photo on my web-page showing The Beast telling the emaciated Kennedy exactly how finals football and The Big Time works, when taking the ball for the final kick. It’s a shame we have to lose him really – he epitomizes the Crazy Gang, and we are going to need the Crazy Gang ethos to come out next season before the Gaffer starts to sweat. Crikey, Wimbledon up and the Toon Army down. What a cracking season. Enjoy your Summer fellow Wombles, collecting rubbish that nobody else wants, no doubt, and remembering Bonnie Langford.

So the season is over and very soon there will be the transfer rumours the only ones I’ve seen/heard are that Darius is signing permanently, Roos could join us on a season long loan and also I have seen billy knott I wonder if NA is interested because if Connor smith declines the contract then why not go for knott as Dannie’s legs could be starting to ware out
