KeymasterThanks Windlesham and Andy.. keep them coming all.
Noticed this in our local papers today..
Australians will have to wait until the end of this year or beyond to restart overseas travel

ParticipantYes, it is hard to see any non-essential international travel being allowed at least until October. They will need to add more routes than the current Auckland, London, LA and Hong Kong hubs, but I suppose that will only be to countries where the pandemic is under control at the time. I reckon that the first tranche of travel will only be for business, government and emergency reasons, probably for those with say an APEC card or an official passport, and not for anyone on a tourist visa. Well, if the SARS and MERS experience is anything to go by, then there ain’t going to be a vaccine, so we will all be holidaying in our own countries. While that is okay, as there is tons of Australia to see, when it comes to football, then it is a real downer. I no not rate the A-league. But what worries me is that the lower pyramids of football are going to go bust while the cashed up Europa League types will survive. What chance Bolton Wanderers coming out of this? They must be one of scores of clubs on the edge. A lifeline from the Premiership would be helpful. Our wonderful Dons will hopefully survive. And who knows, perhaps the combination of post-Covid elation, a return to footy, and a new stadium, will convince ever more South Londoners of the value of having live sport in their backyard. We will surely have one of the first new stadiums post-Covid. A big media event and a symbol of resurgence.

ParticipantOne ray of light in the gloom? Reports of a laboratory in Oxford being 80% likely to have developed a vaccine by autumn. Just newspaper talk perhaps, but in these dark days we’ll cling on to whatever we can. Keep safe.

ParticipantFound it a really useful update by Joe Palmer as it communicated the planned stadium completion date, although that may not be the date from which games can take place, and also that in advanced discussions with a potential lender, although it didn’t also say the value of the loan under discussion.
As somebody said there isn’t any information about where we plan to play before the stadium opens next season. One possible option if it could be arranged is that we play away games until the opening. If this season goes ahead and isn’t completed until mid July say then it could be that next season commences late in perhaps mid September making this more of a realistic option.
Sorry to hear that international travel from Australia
may not be possible until later this yearApril 13, 2020 at 1:35 pm #14639liamwimbo
ParticipantHi Rob, hi everyone.
Hope all Dons fans are keeping safe and well.
Today is Easter Sunday. On Friday we should have been playing Sunderland at home. I had planned to be there as part of my annual spring trip to the UK. My biggest problem a few months ago was getting a ticket for the game as it would surely have been a full house.
Now the football world, like the rest of the world, has shut down. Obviously I had to cancel my trip but am still concerned about my family and friends in the UK where things seem much worse than Australia.
I had already seen Joe Palmer’s update. As Windlesham pointed out, it makes it very difficult for us overseas fans to plan ahead and U think the October 23rd date is extremely optimistic.
A slight silver lining to all this is that he also pointed out that the club has a relatively low salary budget so we might be less affected than other clubs.
Also we have the bond money in the bank, so hopefully the finances for NPL will work out favourably.
So let’s hope the world gets back to normal as soon as possible.
Wishing all Dons health and safety.April 13, 2020 at 7:39 pm #14640onyadon
KeymasterFeeling a bit whimsical ..
What’s the odds of ANY of these player predictions coming off during the summer/offseason (whenever that might be…)?
Five players Glyn Hodges could sign for AFC Wimbledon this summer
