Windlesham Don
ParticipantAnother week and another important game for the boys. Plymouth are going to be tough, they looked a talented outfit at KM first game of the season and are chasing an automatic promotion place. However, we have a good record at Home Park and the Pilgrims are not in the best of form at the moment – we have an opportunity.
As I see it the key decision for NA is whether to stick with the attacking (but narrow) 4-3-3 from last week, or whether to take a more conservative approach (with a small ‘C’ in case hollpoll is reading… ;o) ). I think this will depend on how dangerous NA perceives the Plymouth wide men to be. Personally, I hope he ‘goes for it’, as another 3 points would be huge boost for our chances.
Key in the run-in may be keeping our two experienced centre backs on the park. Robbo and Darius Charles looked to be forming a solid partnership last week, where they snuffed out the Wycombe attack. If Roos can regain his form from the first few games with us then we may start picking up a few clean sheets.
IMO I would be happy with a nervy share of the points.
Finally, after hollpoll’s post I feel I need to comment. I do not share Trevor Pearce’s view of Conservative politics, and perhaps with hindsight he may feel that his article started with too overt a political leaning, but if he is willing to spend his time contributing on a regular basis for the benefit of others then I for one am happy to allow him the leeway of expressing some personal opinion.
COYD!!

onyadonKeymasterI had a flick back through old Wombles Downunders, back to 2001 in fact, 15 years ago and found Trevor Pearce’s name in the contributors’ list. That’s roughly (give or take) 90-odd contributions over time to this fanzine, he’s one of our longest-serving writers. Trevor, like other WD contributors, generously give their time to help put together a fanzine of our football club we can be proud of. As I have always stated, I have as editor of Wombles Downunder attempted to get a wide and diverse range of views of ALL things Wimbledon. Obviously, not everyone will agree with what they read in the fanzine, but that’s okay. As Voltaire once said: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” The calling in of AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane planning application has party political undertones. I don’t think we can dispute that. Trevor, as he was invited to do, expressed an opinion. Not everyone will share it, that’s fine. But “retract the opening paragraph and resubmit the article in a less controversial political tone”? .. that’s not the way I operate as editor of this newsletter. I support Trevor’s right to express his point of view. Others also have the platform of Wombles Downunder to express their views as they see it and they will also be published, without fear or favour. The invitation is always open ….

Participant…and that other lot lost 4-0 in a real relegation six pointer. This is turning out to be a great day. Get in!

ParticipantGreat result. What we need to do is get consistency for the remaining fixtures. Pompey play Plymouth next week. If the Pilgrims can win against them and we could as well, there would only be a point between us.

ParticipantWhilst I disagree with the tone of Trevor’s comments, I’d back his right to say what he feels. Just saying 🙂
