scott wagstaff thats a quality signing, just hoping he doesnt end up like whelpdale, and hopefully he does really well for us
Have been without the internet for three weeks (!) and it’s back on today and I’m fast catching up. So it seems with Neal Ardley with three signings in a week and all of them looking sound choices. So far six players in and maybe four more to come. There is a pattern with Ardley’s recruitment: faster, industrious players and aiming to get in crosses for marquee striker James Hanson to nod them home. Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding in the season ahead, but so far no gripes with the signings. And yes JPM, I was aware that David and Liam had bought into Plough Lane. Hopefully, Dave will tell us more in the first issue of Wombles Downunder of the season. In the meantime a lot of people to contact for our Pundits Poll!
Ok, I am feeling reinvigorated on the Dons front after what has been an exciting, busy burst of promising signings. The young defenders and the savvy but energetic new midfielders look to be great additions. We’re going to be a physically big strong team, all over the pitch. I’m actually looking forward to the season now, and to going to the Brighton game to check out our new talent. Well done Neal on the signings. Let’s hope they deliver!
The buses have been pulling in with Neal Ardley making his seventh signing in 22-year-old centre-back Terell Thomas from Wigan Athletic. Thomas has only limited experience on loan at Sutton United and Woking, so suspect the gaffer will have another more battle-hardened CB in line or, if not, then the Dons are going to be short of nous at the back this season with injury-prone Will Nightingale and Deji Oshilaja. There is persistent talk that Ardley may be trying to move on striker Cody McDonald, who by all accounts returned to pre-season overweight and with an injury, annoying the gaffer so he may be one that Ardley is looking to take off the wage bill and bring in another striker to partner marquee signing James Hanson. Plenty of off-season activity with signs of a new approach by the gaffer.
I saw Thomas at Woking a couple of seasons ago and was impressed even then – hopefully one for the (near) future.
Singapore – I will be there Saturday if you fancy a pre-match discussion of prospects!
Great, see you there Windlesham. A lot of catching up and forecasting to do over a beer or two! The squad is shaping up to look quite exciting- younger and taller, it will be great to get a glimpse of the future on Saturday.
