ParticipantWell that was not what I was expecting! A really impressive away performance creating a hatful of chances and missing all but 3 of them! But to score 3 cracking goals was sensational. I was really impressed. It was the best performance I have seen for a while – especially in the final third. Not necessarily in terms of finishing- 2 open goals missed!! But in terms of chances created it was great. Everyone was on top of their game especially the midfield duo of Soares and Trotter who have seemed unfit and pedestrian at best. yesterday they actually looked like an effective midfield pairing – as good as Dannie Bulman and Jake Reeves in their pomp. Jon Meades is a huge plus. Not only defensive qualities but he has a presence which helps those around him.
But Tuesday is Oldham. Cold and wet, midweek and a desperately needed win. Will the team that played at Rovers turn up again? I hope so and if they do they will win. I’m looking forward to it. What’s the betting i’m a frustrated Womble on Tuesday night?November 20, 2017 at 8:06 am #13710Colum
ParticipantWill the real AFC Wimbledon please stand up. Could we just be starting to see the hard work pay off in recent weeks. Last week we got a good point against a play off contender. This week we win emphatically away, admittedly against a woeful Rovers team. If we get something from Tuesday against Oldham and beat Walsall, we could just be talking about mounting a play off challenge ourselves. Yes the division is that close.
A couple of words of caution though.
Yes we scored three, but we should have been five up by half time. Cody’s open goal miss was a shocker and shows he’s still not the complete answer to our problems up front. Mind you, the way he took the ball down from Young’s Beasentsque hoof was sumblime as was the finish.
We’ll also come up against better teams. Rovers are even lower in confidence as we were a few weeks ago. Oldham will be far tougher, but winnable. If we could get four points from the next two games, we could be in a much stronger position.
It was interesting listening to Neal Ardley’s post match comments though. When talking about the subs that came on, he said it “wasn’t about me being defensive.” He’s obviously conscious of the criticism aimed at him, but feels it is unjust. Trouble is, if the likes of Sibbick and Hartigan are seen as defensive, it is the gaffers fault if we don’t have any midfielders that aren’t defensive. Personally I’d like to see Hartigan play further forward, perhaps behind a front two in the hole. It’s easy being an armchair manager though.

ParticipantAnother hard fought point against an in form team. Only two shots in 90 minutes and none on target, speaks volumes for how lucky we were. Call it a fine defensive display if you like, but I’d just call it lucky. Still a point is a point. Whisper this quietly. 20 points and still not even at the end of November. Just a couple more results and we will be half way to that magical 50 point target.

Participantsorry for the inactiveness (is that a word) ive had a lot on at the moment but seeing as im a rumour account on twitter ive also seen a rumour of interested in Hendon fc striker niko muir who plays for Hendon in the ryman premier- from quite a trusty and reliable twitter account but can anyone see this or have you heard of any other rumours maybe? he has about 22 goals this season already but is 24.

ParticipantThat’s a bit of a gamble if true. OK 24 goals is excellent, but League One is not the Isthmian Premier.
