A point away to promotion contenders will do thank you very much, but we could so easily have got all three. If Lyle Taylor had been match fit, perhaps he’d have got two goals, Robinson had a header cleared off the line, and there were other missed chances.

By all accounts the new signings all did well. Perhaps McDonald was a little subdued, but he did create a couple of chances. After all, being a centre forward is not just about scoring goals.

I may not make Brentford on Tuesday as there’s major disruption at Waterloo station for a month, and I have to use it to get to KM from work. Shame as I was looking forward to going.

Having arrived on Tuesday evening, it was a long away trip for my first game. Went up on the Supporters Coach organised superbly by Laurence.
Very enjoyable day out. The Dons were well their point and the common consensus is that we could and should have won. Indeed I overheard a few Scunny fans say “We were lucky to get a point” which sums up the game.
They scored with their first attack. It was a great strike by their player, but he was given loads of time and space to look up and pick his spot, giving Long no chance. We had loads of possession, but don’t think we had a shot on target that first half.
Second half followed a similar pattern, until LTB came on. For me, that changed the game as two minutes later Abdou did a HAFSOG and it worked. Thereafter the Dons completely dominated. Any chances they had were snuffed out by Long’s dominance in his box and up the other end, it took a great save by their keeper to claw the ball back off the line from a Dons corner. And Taylor really should have finished them off in injury time after good work by McDonald.
Was lovely seeing the Dons live again, with a very encouraging performance that bides well for the future. Generally a good team effort, with special mentions for Long, Oshilaja, Abdou and Taylor as the impact sub. Like all of you, really crossing my fingers he stays with us.
So onto a home tie (finally) in the League Cup on Tuesday. Hoping to catch up with you, Windlesham, at that game. Pic of myself with Dons legend Ian Cooke attached, so you can recognise me.

Cheers Liam, I will have a look in the bar for you when I arrive. I have no choice other than to drive and so I will aim to get there early to allow for all the transport issues!

I am scrawny, mid-50s, greying hair, about 5’10” and wearing my ‘watermelon’ away top!

I will try and get there around 18:30-18:45 and will be in the middle bar if you arrive after that time – give me a bell on oh771oh 142oh74 if you have a UK mobile.

Let’s find some fat and chew it tomorrow! ;o)

No worries, Windlesham. Have got my ticket in advance, so will aim to get there by 6.30pm.
Have taken your number, so will text you my UK mobile.
PS I am short and fat ?, probably wearing a home shirt under a red jacket!

Liam – Looking forward to it.

And so to tonight, and never good news to have your first injury crisis one game into the competitive season!

I was slightly concerned starting the season with three important squad members out (Charles, Meades and Soares), but to pick up another two injuries in the first game (Abdou and Trotter) is a worry.

Centre midfield is a big concern for tonight. By my reckoning in the current ‘fit’ squad we only have Francomb, Parrett, Hartigan and Egan who are primarily centre midfielders. If NA wants to continue with the 4-3-3/4-5-1 system that he has favoured so far this season then 3 out of the fit 4 should start.

Will he trust Anthony Hartigan with a starting berth against good Championship opposition? It is a big call. If he chooses not to expose the youngster, then he may be forced to play Dean Parrett in a role where his duties include defending as well as attacking, and that didn’t work out too well last season!

Whatever the result tonight it will not influence the outcome of our season. However, on Saturday we entertain Shrewsbury, who have been widely touted to be one of the strugglers come spring. If we are to avoid any early season doubts creeping into both the supporters and the squad, then we should be looking to put in a good performance. To achieve this I believe we will need to have at least one of our injured players back on the pitch…

    COYD!!
