Following the tribunal ruling on the Will Mannion fee from Hull City, hearing the Dons are likely to be selling another young academy player for substantially more in the next week or two.

Hearing Dons are close to signing a goalkeeper from the Championship… it could be announced when he and Ardley are back from holidays in early June.

UPDATE – Neal Ardley on Tuesday announced James Shea, Dannie Bulman, Sean Kelly, Chris Robertson, Tom Beere, David Fitzpatrick, George Oakley and Dan Gallagher have been released. Tom Elliott is considering the Dons new offer but has other offers and a “few other players have been told to move on because they do not have futures at this club”,…[Read more]

James Shea has said he is being released. By my count Shea kept 13 clean sheets when he played and stepped in at a time of great defensive uncertainty in mid-September. I can only think that in letting him go, Neal Ardley has someone else (and available) in mind. Some are suggesting Kelle Roos, who supplanted Shea during the second half of last…[Read more]

The Dons can’t finish lower than 15th. They could yet finish the season as high as 12th, but that’s unlikely. While most of us would have taken 15th place at the start of the season, it’s the cold statistic of just 2 wins in the last 10 games and without a goal in 8 of them, that sours it a bit for me. I get the distinct impression that the…[Read more]

    Thanks Windlesham for those thoughts…

I am a little uncertain about the Club futures of Tom Elliott and Jake Reeves, given their standout seasons for the Dons. While agreeing there needs to be some squad bolstering, it is also most important that we try (if we can) to hold on to both these two going into next season, but I am also mindful that…[Read more]

The Dons crashed through 54 points with victory over Rochdale, given the safety level in 12 L1 seasons is between 50-51 points, we can safely assume that AFC Wimbledon have secured League 1 football for next season — and with six games to spare. That is a wonderful achievement from Neal Ardley, his coaching staff and squad on one of L1’s lowest…[Read more]

Welcome back Windlesham … and you only missed some noisy interlopers we had to eject at Kingsmeadow !!!

Just witnessing the sustained rapturous standing ovation Neal Ardley and his team received on their lap of honour after destroying the Frannies showed how much the victory meant for the Dons fans among the 4,112 crowd at Kingsmeadow. Ardley was thumping the club crest on his jacket and clapping the supporters. He said later: “I saw a lot of…[Read more]

Thanks again Peter for another very descriptive report on the Bolton match. Seven points from the last nine (Walsall, Scunthorpe and Bolton) and Wimbledon are well poised to secure their place in next season’s League 1. If the Dons can get a home win over Northampton Town on Saturday (and that is eminently achievable), wouldn’t it be ironic that…[Read more]

Thanks again for the detailed match wrap, it is indeed much appreciated, Peter.
So the Dons have 43 points, the safety level in 12 L1 seasons is between 50-51 points, so by that reckoning Wimbledon need a minimum eight points, nine points to be sure, from the 13 remaining games.
There are some tough ones coming up. We are at second-placed…[Read more]

Received this from Mark Robinson after reading the latest Wombles Downunder…

Thank you for sending over some interesting views.
Very kind words by Peter in his article on our Hull game and we were good that night. Unfortunately we let ourselves down at Preston. We should be playing a quarter Final against Stoke right now and giving the fans…[Read more]

I tweeted this….. first time I’ve seen the term ‘evisceration’ used in the AFC Wimbledon context for the 4-0 loss at Sheffield United. Sounded like a tough afternoon. Sure, we could have done better, but by the looks of it Sheffield United are certainly heading for the Championship given their form and resources. We are in a different league to…[Read more]

Listened to Rob Cornell’s call of the terrific AFC Wimbledon Under-18s last 16 FA Cup Youth tie at Preston North End. Newly-signed professional Anthony Hartigan put the young Dons ahead in first period of extra time 2-1 with a cracking volley before PNE got two late goals to snuff out the Dons’ challenge for a quarter-final spot. There is some…[Read more]

Tempting as it is the Dons must focus on getting past Sutton United before thoughts turn to a evocative home tie with Leeds United. Leeds won through to the fourth round with a 2-1 win over Cambridge United, so the incentive is there for both Wimbledon and Sutton to come though the January 17 replay at Kingsmeadow. Apart from the prestige of a…[Read more]

The Dons didn’t slip up in a tricky FA Cup tie at Sutton United at evocative Gander Green Lane where the U’s have won nine games on the 3G pitch. James Shea made a fantastic save to keep the Dons in it, Tom Elliott and Paul Robinson came close to a winner in stoppage time. So the Dons get a replay back at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday January 17 and will…[Read more]

Very impressive and readable posts from the Port Vale game. Thanks to you all and it’s always most appreciated.
Just back from Brisbane and the Test cricket and delighted to see the Dons play so well and get a 4-0 result over PV. Also significant that Neal Ardley described the performance as one of the best by the team this season. Just about…[Read more]
