AFC Wimbledon have won already. As we arrive at the day when the REAL Dons play Franchise for the first time in the League, AFC Wimbledon have won already. It’s sweet karma that the Dons stand 7th on the table, MK 19th, in the first season the two disparates have played in the same league — 14 years after starting out as a fans-owned team in tier…[Read more]

Guys, have a request from WDSA member Margaret Hung: she’s asking if the moment in the Curzon Ashton Cup tie when Jake Reeves can be heard telling the team to stand on the keeper before taking the corner (before Elliott’s first goal) is on video anywhere? The Dons Player does not have actual audio in the match highlights. If there is anything out…[Read more]

What an incredible emotional roller-coaster ride that was. I had figuratively put the cue in the rack at 0-3 (think we all did…) and was reflecting on what a lost opportunity the listless Dons had squandered for the FA Cup third round draw, when ….. the turnaround was just a blur, three goals in three minutes and in a twinkling we were level…[Read more]

It’s an FA Cup tie Wimbledon are expected to win on Sunday at non-league Curzon Ashton – and that in itself is dangerous in a one-off game. The Dons are on a hiding to nothing in this one: win as expected or slip on a banana skin, lose and face the ignominy of going out to a side ranked well below you. Neal Ardley is saying all the right things…[Read more]

I suspected Wimbledon don’t do ruthless well….. after the 5-0 FA Cup replay rout and a change of manager that Bury would be tougher to beat in the Dons’ fourth meeting with them in a month. How delightfully wrong I was. 5-1 is ruthless and now the Dons are back in the playoff spots – sixth if you like! – in this remarkable first season in League…[Read more]

Firstly, put out of your minds AFC Wimbledon’s 2-1 win at Bury a few weeks back as a precursor to Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Gigg Lane. I hope Neal Ardley has insisted on that to his players before they face the Shakers again. To expect the same outcome because of what transpired recently is fraught with danger in the cut and thrust of Cup-tie…[Read more]

Wimbledon’s rise to an all-time high of 6th in L1 has some people getting excited – very excited. While delighted with the Dons unexpected ease of adjusting to life in the higher league, the visit of Bradford City will give us all a truer reflection of the team’s capabilities. A defeat – the first in 10 games – would be no calamity, a hard-fought…[Read more]

Many thanks Singapore Don for a terrific report from Peterborough, don’t think anything was missed and extremely valuable for us not there.
A couple of thoughts – 15 games in and the Dons stand perched on their highest league place of 6th in L1 since reformation. Rarefied times, maybe it might become our highest point this season, but who can say…[Read more] -

This from the Racing Post on the Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium, note the dates …
Racing Post:
THE axe has finally fallen on Wimbledon stadium as staff and trainers were informed in writing on Saturday that the final meeting at the track will take place on Saturday, March 25.
The news comes after any hopes of saving greyhound racing at Plough…[Read more]

From the (limited) look at the match highlights Swindon Town looked a decent passing side and therein lies the challenge for AFC Wimbledon this season. Swindon are 20th and the Dons are 12th – just four points above the Robins. It just shows (yet again) what a tightly-congested league this is and how every game is a challenge. The Dons are…[Read more]

That was a significant victory for the Dons to finally beat Oxford United at the 13th try – that will give their confidence a boost in what is shaping as a promising first season in L1. So far AFCW have beaten Charlton and now Oxford on the road and draws at Northampton, Rochdale and Coventry. By any measure it shows the Dons ARE competitive in…[Read more]

Beaten just once in the last eight games, beating one of the highest scoring teams in L1 and keeping Gillingham scoreless, I think we can fairly say that Wimbledon are not out of their depth in L1, based on early season evidence. Almost one-quarter the way through and the Dons have nine teams below them despite losing points (4) in stoppage time…[Read more]

General consensus is two points lost against Shrewsbury Town (so far) the poorest team to come to KM this season. That said a couple of positives. James Shea again looked good for his second appearance this season (and we need him to do that regularly as the front-line keeper). Some claim he looked confident, commanding his box, claiming crosses…[Read more]

Couple of things watching the Charlton game on Dons Player..
Firstly, great to see James Shea respond so positively to his chance by pulling off some great saves to keep the Dons in the game. Also I’m a bit curious why Neal Ardley decided to promote Shea just two weeks after saying of Ryan Clarke:”We’re going to stick by Ryan Clarke and try to…[Read more]

Neal Ardley said the team had a “quite a harsh video analysis” on Tuesday ahead of the London derby at Charlton Athletic. “We challenged them a bit with their mentality. In the second half of the week we’ve tried to work towards the game. We want to get them feeling really good, build them up, and take that anxiety away from their performance,” h…[Read more]

One of the highlights of the first season in L1 for me, the first visit of Sheffield United, one of the ‘big’ clubs of this league and with pretensions of promotion this time under new manager and former Blades defender Chris Wilder, who guided Northampton Town to last season’s L2 championship. This will be a big test for the Dons, but comes at a…[Read more]

I’m scratching my head why (some) fans are rubbishing new goalkeeper Ryan Clarke and scapegoating him for the rash of defensive glitches prevalent in the Dons’ opening matches in L1 this season. Sure, Clarke has made a nervous start to his time in a Dons shirt, but equally so have the experienced defence in front of him. As Neal Ardley said this…[Read more]
