The Hatters tomorrow, and another big match. We are useless at home and Luton are decent away. However, there will be a good atmosphere and sometimes form goes out of the window if the team gets fired up by the crowd.

It will be good to have Bulman back and a debut from the new keeper will be keenly anticipated. I am not sure who the two doubtful starters are, but I hope they aren’t key performers.

This starts a run of key games for us which may determine whether the play-offs are a realistic target. The squad has the ability, but whether we can get enough consistency in defence is for me the key – I believe much will depend on whether the manager has selected his loanee keeper wisely.

For tomorrow I’m going to sit on the bench and predict a 1-1 draw.

Another encouraging result for the Dons … That’s 4 points up on this stage last season, 6 more goals, 2 less conceded, +8 GD, but I’m keeping my powder dry for a batch of really tough games coming up shortly against top teams – Oxford United at home; Northampton Town – away; Accrington Stanley – home and Bristol Rovers – away. If we are still 3 points off the playoffs by early March then hopes will be high of a big push to the playoffs. Oxford, Northampton and Accy traditionally give the Dons a tough time, while Rovers in Bristol will be a stern test. Still, the Dons are scoring goals and if Kelle Roos provides some certainty in goal, especially for the back four, then maybe Wimbledon may give this a shake…. a very interesting stage of the season coming up. Your views, peeps?

Great win for the Dons, especially as Ards had to re-shuffle the team and also cope with an injury to Reeves early on. Apparently Francomb did well having to move into central midfield. The timing of the goals made it hard for Luton to get into the game and the only disappointment was conceding a goal. Probably the most pleasing aspect is the goal difference of +10, unheard of in recent seasons.
Going into this game, I, like Rob, had looked at the difficult run coming up and thought that if we won 4 and drew 2 of the next eight games, we would be well placed to get into the play-offs. After last night that is now 3 wins and 2 draws from the next seven games.
I am heading over to the UK shortly and planning to go to the Accrington, Morecambe and York games. Hopefully by the time I leave, the Dons will be well ensconced in the top 7.

A good win, but 4-1 probably flatters us. A couple of deflected goals and a couple of goals just after half time killed off a decidedly average Luton.

The loss of Osborne before the match was barely noticed after a confident performance from young Ryan Sweeney.

Interestingly the poor and cut up pitch did not seem to affect our game unduly. Indeed, our generally direct style of play may be quite suited to the pitches of the next few weeks after a heap of rain in the UK. Let’s hope so…

7 games in the next 3 weeks will test the depth of the squad, and there are some tough fixtures in those. Personally, I feel that we need a good start to the next run of games – at least 4 points from the trip to Barnet and the Tuesday game against Carlisle will put us in a good position for the toughies to come.

I’ll keep an eye out for you Liam. I hope you bring us some luck.

Francombe gets a fair bit of stick for his dead ball delivery. It is not a strong point in his game, but we don’t have anyone else who seems willing to take responsibility. Neil Ardley was singing his praises after the Luton game, which is a sure sign that the player had a shocker. To be fair to poor George, he was playing a slightly more central role, but the number of misplaced passes was approaching being embarrassing.

We have games in hand over most of those above as well. I just hope we don’t get any more games called off. We don’t want any further fixture congestion. Two league games a week will test our squad enough as it is.
